Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,

Happy Advent!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

The next three weeks together always is a fun and busy time for our school community! We will be celebrating Advent daily in the morning with the students entering the school in silence with the school hallway lights out. There will be music playing over the PA system and student volunteers holding battery powered lights in the hallway guiding the way for all students to arrive to their classroom.

This Tuesday will be the 5th grade play. Showtimes are listed on the Weekly Schedule section below.

Next Sunday from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the Gym will be the first every FSA's Festival of Trees. Come on by after mass.

Mark your calendars for Thursday, December 16th for the Advent Concert (Times TBD) followed by the FSA's Breakfast with Santa the next morning during school on Friday, December 17th.

I am sure there will be more activities to announce either school wide or in your child(ren)'s class(es), but these are some that I wanted to make sure you had the dates for to add to your schedule.

Since this past we we have had many people travel or many people hosting visitors the possibility of COVID cases will increase. SFCS is not changing our mask policy at this time. What we do ask is that you please be vigilant in monitoring your child(ren) and family members for symptoms of COVID-19. Please continue to keep your child(ren) home if they are not feeling well or are illustrating any symptoms. We don't want to break our great streak of over a month of no cases or close contacts in our school community!

The Cognia parent survey for our accreditation review and strategic planning process has been extended to November 30th. I know the survey is a little long but it is really important for our parents to give about 15 minutes of their valuable time to provide the feedback we need at SFCS to revise and create a authentic and accurate strategic plan for our next 3 years. Right now we have about 27% of our parent population that have completed surveys. Please help us reach our goal of 50%! If we reach our goal then the students will be treated to a ice cream treat by Mr. Pope! Please click the following link or the link below. eProve™ surveys (

We are looking forward to having the students back tomorrow! Happy Advent!!!

Sincerely in Christ,

Brian Pope

The Kindergarten students had fun before break celebrating the upcoming holiday!

1st Grade

The first graders had fun learning about the Mayflower and the first Thanksgiving. They made turkeys out of flower pots and turkey treats. The first grade wishes everybody a very happy Thanksgiving!

6th Grade Science

Sixth grade science students practiced two of the most basic scientific process skills: observation and communication. Students selected an object of interest, viewed it under our field scopes and documented their observation as the first scientists did--they drew what they saw. They made microscopic observations of minerals, molds, bacteria, hair, insects insect parts, fossils and more. Ms. Markey even joined in the fun! This was a fun and engaging way to expand basic scientific skills using high interest materials that cannot all be viewed under a traditional microscope.

Virtue of the Week - SINCERITY

Tell the whole truth.

Build trust by your words and actions.

State what you are truly sorry for.

Our Prayer:

Dear Jesus,

Please give me the grace to be honest in all my

words and actions. When someone is speaking,

give me the patience to listen attentively.

Pizza Fridays to Return!

With the help of Lori Taylor we will be starting pizza Fridays after Thanksgiving break! Our first pizza Friday will be December 3rd. Each student will get 2 slices of pizza and choice of a side salad with ranch or fruit cup. The younger kiddos will have the option to get smaller slices. The price is $5 for smaller portion and $6 for the regular portion. Parents will have the option to order which ever they feel is best for their child. Look for ordering info!

Angel Tree Donations

This Advent Season, our school will be participating in the Angel Tree Christmas gift drive through our Parish. As Disciples of Virtue, each child is asked to bring in a $1.00 donation to help purchase a gift for a child in need. Our Room Moms will purchase the items for each class, with the donations collected. Please have your student(s) bring in $1.00 by December 3rd and give to their Homeroom Teacher. Thank you for your generosity and prayerfulness during this Holy Season!

PARENT SURVEY - Catholic Identity Program Effectiveness

Every year SFCS conducts surveys for parents, faculty and students to provide input that will be used in development of our school's strategic improvement plan. Your participation is requested and greatly needed to assist SFCS to grow and improve. Please click the link below and select St. Francis Catholic School. Thank you for your time!! and input!

More information will come home with your child next week. Envelopes are due in the office by Monday, Dec 13th.

Don't forget to order pictures for great Christmas gifts! The photographers reached out in regard to some ordering issues. Those issues have been resolved for those that were having difficultly ordering early on.
