Strath Haven Middle School
Friday, May 6, 2022
Dear SHMS Families:
I would like to congratulate all of our student musicians who performed in this week’s Fine and Applied Arts Night concerts. As I expressed last night, I may be biased, but I believe we have the best music program around. Our students played and sang beautifully. We are proud of the hard work that has been put into the program this year by our students and staff. Well done! I look forward to seeing the sixth-grade performances next Tuesday.
PSSA testing will continue for eighth-grade students next week. They will take the science assessment on Tuesday, May 10th and Wednesday, May 11th.
I am excited to announce that SHMS will move forward with our traditional fifth-grade transition activities this year. The fifth graders will visit SHMS on May 18th (NPE), May 19th (WES), and May 20th (SRS). During their visit, students will have an opportunity to meet some of the sixth-grade teachers, take a tour of the middle school, and get an overview of the middle school programs. The middle school will host a parent orientation night on Thursday, May 19th at 7:00 p.m. in the middle school auditorium.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Dr. Chris Matsanka
