Good Morning Memorial Families,
I hope you had an enjoyable weekend. The early sunsets are a bit sad, but at least the weather was perfect for late fall sports yesterday! As a reminder, this week is very choppy for our students. We have a full PD day for our teachers tomorrow, and Friday is Veteran’s Day. Please mark your calendars so that you don’t find yourself waiting for the school bus tomorrow morning!
The PTO is very active this month! Tomorrow night they are sponsoring a family night in the Memorial cafeteria with Claytime Pottery. See the PTO newsletter below for more information on how to participate. There will also be a canned food drive to benefit St. Gabriels. We are also in the middle of our Raise Craze fundraiser focused on performing acts of kindness. This morning as I was walking into the building, there were awesome messages in chalk on the sidewalk. It is so nice to see the students practicing kindness and being a part of making the community a happy place. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for enrichment programming, field trips, equipment, and other needs across Memorial. Thank you for participating and being a part of this good cause. The November PTO meeting is on Wednesday night at 6:30pm in the library if you are interested in joining.
On a more personal note, I want to thank the community of Upton, and in particular our Memorial families for the outpouring of love and support for my family over the past week and a half. We are utterly devastated and just trying to make sense of the events of that night. Your cards, emails, and messages have truly been helpful in reminding me of the good in this world. I appreciate each of you and feel fortunate to be surrounded by so much love.. We will lay my brother and nephew to rest this Friday, fittingly on Veteran’s Day as my brother was an Air Force veteran. Thank you for your continued thoughts, hugs, and support.
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Wendy and Lauren
