Big picture

PENN PRIDE: we have. we are.

WE ARE ALL LEARNING

We are focusing on community. This month, each class is meeting with their buddy class, to create additions for the sweet scene pictured above. Lots of glitter is involved. And lots of working and laughing together. Yes, of course, we're still doing reading, writing, math, science and social studies, but we love to take some time to focus on the 'soft skills' of life: getting along, having a conversation and creating together.

The newest info about 2019-20 Elementary Attendance Areas

This week the district sent an email to families who will be directly impacted by boundary changes for next school year. These letters were based on the address on file for your student(s) in PowerSchool. Please make sure you read that! AND make sure your PowerSchool information is correct, so that you are getting accurate information.

Please visit the links below, which provide access to the 2019-20 District attendance area maps and the District’s Attendance Area Look-Up, which provides school information specific for your home address.

Accessible Playground

We're so excited to have an upgrade made to our playground this week. It isn't visible and most people won't even notice it. However, this improvement will open up opportunities!

We have an adapted swing on our swing set for students with special needs. However, the very children for whom it was purchased have had a difficult time crossing from the blacktop through the wood chips to get to the swing. Wheelchairs get bogged down in woodchips.

Thanks to Mrs. Roberts initiative (and perseverance) AND the PTO's generous funding, we were able to get rubber mats installed that create a safe, but more firm route for wheelchairs.

Interestingly, this short video came out this week that totally affirms the need for this upgrade and reminds us that more is needed.

LOST and FOUND

Our bins are overflowing. We'll be donating any thing not claimed by winter break.

Cleaning out closets? We'd love your donations.

The health office loans out pants daily to many children. If your child has borrowed a pair, please wash and return. We also would gladly accept any hand-me-downs you might want to donate to the Penn Health Office.
