CONFERENCE INFORMATION
Conferences are right around the corner!
We will have online conferences again, and teachers will again use Calendly to arrange conference times. Please sign up when you see these come through your email if you haven't already. Conferences are scheduled for February 17th after school and evening and all-day February 18th. There is no school on February 12th, 18th, or 19th. If available times on Calendly absolutely won't work for you, please reach out to your teacher to make other arrangements.
Since the spring of 2020 our teachers and scholars have been challenged to teach and learn in new ways. We are grateful for our teacher's ability to adapt outcomes based on student needs during the pandemic and the learning support our families have provided during these times. To align instruction and support a smooth transition for students, the Elementary Curriculum Leadership Team has identified the most critical standards for each grade level to focus on.
As a result, there may be a few standards that have not yet been targeted and may be left blank. We provide this honest assessment and clear communication from teachers to families to help in identifying any learning gaps and assist in creating instructional plans to address those gaps. We thank you for your continued understanding as we ensure each student is making progress toward grade-level standards.
MEALS
Lawrence Public Schools' Food Service Department encourages families who think they may qualify to apply for free and reduced-price meal benefits. The Kansas State Department of Education and the Kansas Department for Children and Families may provide additional Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) funding this year for families approved for free or reduced-price meal benefits. You may complete the application online at https://www.myschoolapps.com/Home/PickDistrict. Please contact the Food Service Office with any questions at 785-832-5000.
In addition, did you know that the schools receive additional funding for free and reduced lunch? That additional funding can allow us to offer important programs and staff. We have fewer applications this year due to everyone receiving free lunch without applying, but qualified applications will truly benefit the family AND the school. We appreciate your applications!!

Enrollment Information
The portal opens in February for new students to enroll for the 2021-22 school year. We are looking for new kindergartners! Please share with friends, family, and neighbors to start the enrollment process on www.usd497.org once it is available and call the school now to let us know they will be attending. We will also be able to answer if they have questions!
Annual Registration will roll out next month. This confirms registration for next year and offers the opportunity to update information. Every family will do this. Please contact Mrs. Walthall for help in updating new addresses as that requires proof of residency.
