Penn Pride: We have. We are. Together.
Together ...
Our 3rd and 4th graders has a sweet treat yesterday when author/illustrator Melissa Sweet visited! These students have been reading her books and learning about her artwork over the last several weeks. They prepared to welcome her by creating their own art work that connected to her work. Ms. Sweet was impressed by their knowledge of her work, but also their creativity AND the work Mrs. Priske and Mrs. Goeken had done to prepare our students.
The students enjoyed hearing about the creative process that Ms. Sweet goes through and how she worked to become an illustrator and then, author. She had a great message about persevering and seeing the world as being full of ideas!
I was so proud of the students for the respectful and enthusiastic attentiveness they showed our guest. The preparation for this event was a great collaboration between Mrs. Priske, Ms. Goeken and the homeroom teachers. Together. Student experience was richer because of the work these professionals did together.
You can see more pictures of the event and the student's work here and an article from the CR Gazette about Melissa Sweet, her work and visit in our area.
