Principal Gober's Greetings
Dear Knik families and learning community;
Parent teacher conferences will be taking place Monday, February 19th from 8:45am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:15pm. The 8:45am-12:00pm sessions are pre-scheduled conferences and the 1:00pm-4:00pm sessions are open door conferences (no appointment needed). Please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher if you have any questions or if you would like to schedule your conference for a specific time on February 19th.
We will be hosting our Title 1 Family Science Night, Science Fair and Moonlit Mile on Thursday, 02/29/24 from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm at Knik Elementary! We really hope you can join us for fun family science activities and experiments and cast your vote for your favorite science experiment and display. Bring all your winter gear as we will be gearing up and walking laps around the school as students earn charms for the number of laps they complete. Our walk will be lit up with tea lights and we will have fire pits that you can warm up by while enjoying cookies, hot chocolate and hot apple cider. We hope to see you and your family for this fun Family event on 02/29/24 from 5:30-7:00 pm.
We want to hear from you regarding our Title 1 programs and Family Events offered at Knik. The Title 1 Family Engagement Survey (click on this link) will be open through February 16, 2024. The results from this survey help us to continue to improve the services and activities we offer students, improve our communication with families, and provide the best Family Engagement Events possible. Thank you for taking the time to provide this much valued input.
To view the Knik Elementary 2022-2023 District Report Card to the Public, go to Knik Elementary Report Card To The Public. Once there, you will be able to select which School or District Report Card to the Public you wish to view. These Report Cards to the public contain data and information about academics, school environment, teacher quality, and more. If you are unable to access the Report Card to the Public online, please contact Knik Elementary @ 907-353-0300.
We love our Knik families and learning community! Please reach out to us if you have any needs or concerns, we will do our best to work together with you to find solutions.

Recess Updates - FAB 5
Recess is an essential part of elementary school days. This is such a great time for our Knik kiddos to get their bodies moving and lungs full of fresh air. Students will go out to recess everyday, provided the temperature stays above -10 and the weather is accommodating.
If you need assistance with cold weather gear, please let us know and we will be happy to help you connect with available resources. Please contact the front office or Nurse Holly.
All of your child’s belongings should be labeled with their first and last name. If your child wears snow boots to school they will also need a pair of shoes to wear inside the building.
Students that are prepared with all of their FAB 5 of recess gear are awarded with a Caught ya worth 5 points, that they may redeem for a prize !
- Warm, water resistant coat
- Snow Pants
- Warm Hat
- Warm Gloves
- Winter Boots
Nurse Notes
Happy February, Knik families!
Please continue to ensure your students bring their winter gear to school each day. This should include at a minimum: coat, hat (a warm hood / earmuffs, warm headband is ok), gloves, snow pants and boots.
Teachers are recognizing students that bring and wear their “Fab 5” of winter gear by handing out caught ya’s to those Kings that are super-prepared for the cold weather!
Teachers may send a note home if your student is missing gear, with the item missing indicated. This helps ensure that parents are aware if anything is missing and will prompt students to remember their cold weather gear.
If your child does not have needed gear, we might be able to help!
Please give me a call at 907-352-0303 if you need help obtaining winter clothing for your student.
On another note, there are a lot of illnesses floating around the school and community right now. As a reminder: if your student has a fever (99.5 or higher), is vomiting or has diarrhea, a rash of unknown origin, or is just generally too unwell to participate they should stay home to rest and recuperate. Student may return 24 hours after the fever is resolved without the use of fever-reducing medications (Advil, Tylenol), 24 hours after vomiting/diarrhea is resolved, etc., and when they feel well enough to participate. If any of these affect your family, or you have questions or concerns about this please reach out anytime.
Spring is just around the corner, I’m thinking positively! Have a great February!
