Camillus Optimist Speech Winner Wins at District Level!
The District Optimist Oratorical Contest was held virtually this year, and the contest finished on Saturday, May 5. The theme this year is “Healing the World With Optimism”.
The first place winner is West Genesee High School sophomore Logan Battaglia who was sponsored by Camillus Optimist Club.
As the District first place winner she will move on to the Region/World Championship Contest to be held Virtually July 22 and July 23, 2021. Congratulations!
West Genesee Student Honored by LECNY
The LECNY Poster Contest was held back in March and was open to students in grades 6-12 whose teachers are current members of LECNY. One winner was chosen from grades 6-8 and another winner was chosen from grades 9-12.
The winner will be presented with a certificate and a $50 check. Due to COVID-19 there will not be an end of the year meeting to honor students winning awards. Congratulations!
The Annual District Budget Vote and BOE Election is on May 18, 2021
The Annual School District Board of Education Election and Budget Vote will take place from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in the West Genesee High School Auditorium Lobby.
You are eligible to vote on May 18, 2021 if you are a U.S. citizen, 18 years or older, and have been a District resident for at least 30 days prior to the vote. No pre-registration is required although personal identification may be requested at the polls. Questions? Call the District Clerk at 315-487-4563.
Residents who will not be in the area on May 18, 2021 may apply for an absentee ballot at the District Office. If the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter, the application must have been submitted at least seven days prior to the vote. If the absentee ballot is to be picked up by the voter in person, applications will be accepted until May 17, 2021. Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 18, 2021.

West Genesee District PTA/PTO is Hosting a Talk with the Superintendent
Please join the West Genesee PTA/PTO District Council for a Talk with the Superintendent on May 25, 2021 starting at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom.
Please RSVP below by May 25 at 3:00 p.m. and you will be emailed the link to join the discussion. Space is limited by Zoom and registration is required. Please submit questions ahead of time to publications@westgenesee.org by May 24 at 3:00 p.m. (A livestream link will also be made available to only view.)

Additional Days Off Because of Snow (or rather lack of....)
Superintendent David C. Bills announced at the Board of Education meeting held on April 7 that if we have no additional emergency closing days, our "give back" days will be Friday, May 28 and Tuesday, June 1.
If we have an emergency closing between now and then, June 1 will be reinstated as a regular school day, followed by May 28 if we have a second emergency closing.

The music camp opportunities that West Genesee will be offering this summer has been announced!
We are Looking for Substitute Food Service Workers!
Looking to work around your child’s school day? You can get your children on the bus and be there to greet them when they get home! We are hiring at both West Genesee CSD and Onondaga Central CSD.

Update: Free Breakfast and Lunch
The USDA has granted ALL students in the United States FREE breakfast and lunch for this entire school year due to the COVID pandemic. Orders can be placed at: https://westgenesee.nutrislice.com/menu/.
