FestivALL: From idea to icon
PRSA-WV Chapter on May 18 at Captiol Conference Center
How do you grow an event from idea to icon? Come find out!
Join us on Wednesday, May 18, to learn how FestivALL has grown from a small idea in 2004 to one of the iconic events in West Virginia. The brainchild of Larry Groce, our Outstanding West Virginian recipient in 2012, FestivALL brings art to life in Charleston each summer by showcasing dance, music, theater, visual arts and more, all with a focus on family fun.
Our guest will be Brittany Javins, who has been serving as executive director of FestivALL Charleston since October 2015. She began with FestivALL as a volunteer, worked as an intern in 2012, and then took on various leadership roles in subsequent years as first an assistant to and then co-director with Larry Groce. She holds an MA in Arts Administration from Florida State Univeristy with a focus in community arts. Brittany formerly taught English in Kanawha County Schools and ballet in Charleston-area studios. She has a background in the Charleston arts community as a dancer with the Charleston Ballet, and she now occassionally performs with the Charleston Light Opera Guild.
We will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the Capitol Conference Center on the Lee Street Triangle in downtown Charleston. Parking is encouraged in one of the area city parking garages or the Huntington Bank garage. Reservations are required by Friday, May 13, and the cost of the event is $22 per person. Just register at prsawv.org.
