We love our counselor!
This week was National School Counselor Week. Students and staff showed their appreciation to Mrs. Shoals with cards, flowers, gifts and lots of hugs. We are so grateful to Mrs. Shoals for all she does for students, families and staff. She helps make Blue Ash Elementary a great place for us all!
Notes from our Nurse
Prevention is the Best Medicine
Good handwashing and covering your cough and sneeze are best practices to prevent the spread of illness especially the Flu!
It’s not too late to get your Flu Shot for this Flu season! The CDC recommends Flu Vaccine for all individuals 6 months and older. Check out the CDC website for more information regarding the Flu and the Flu vaccine at https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pdf/freeresources/updated/fluguideforparents.pd

KEEPING STUDENTS HOME FROM SCHOOL DUE TO ILLNESS
It can be difficult to decide when and how long to keep an ill child home from school. The timing of the absence is often important in order to decrease the spread of disease to others and to prevent your child from acquiring any other illness while his/her resistance is lowered.
If your child has a fever, is vomiting or has diarrhea they must stay home until they no longer have the symptom for 24 hours without the use of medication.
Check our school health handbook page 10 for more specific illness guidelines at
http://www.sycamoreschools.org/Page/2268
Clothing Information
Sometimes children come to the nurse office with wet clothing from recess play outdoors, a spilled lunch or other mishaps. The nurse office has a limited supply of clothing. Please consider sending in a 2nd change of clothing for your child to keep in their backpack for these times. If you are cleaning out your children’s closets and have gently worn clothing to donate, consider donating items to the nurse office supply such as sweat pants, leggings or any pant with adjustable waist for boys or girls. New underwear donations for boys and girls are also needed. Please contact our School Nurse, Mrs. Wyrick at 686-1713 if you have any questions.

Fashion Show During Cultural Celebration
There's a new opportunity to participate in Cultural Celebration on Friday, Feb. 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. We are offering a chance for Blue Ash Elementary students to get on stage for a fashion show.
The co-chairs of Cultural Celebration will pre-select a song, and each child would be able to walk out to center stage and then do a bow or twirl in their cultural attire. They would walk off stage and the next child would come out. We would then have all children walk out together at the end. We hope that the fashion show will represent a lot of cultures.
If your child would like to participate, please reply individually to Christine Katzman, ckatzman@nualumni.com, as soon as possible with the following information.
