Attention 5th Grade Parents & Guardians of Students Interested in Band
Dear 5th Grade Parents,
The Pickerington Local Schools Band Department is now enrolling students for our 6th Grade Beginning Band classes.
New for the 2017-2018 school year, all band classes will be held during the regular school day. We are so excited that band will be in the regular school day and students will not have to miss any classes, activities, or wake up early to participate!
Instruction on band instruments – woodwind, brass and percussion – is offered in all Pickerington Middle Schools, beginning in 6th grade. The primary activities include becoming musically literate, learning to play band instruments and experiencing the joy of making music together.
Opportunities in the Pickerington Band Program will be presented to all 5th graders during the school day on Friday, March 17, 2017.
We will also hold a 30-minute parent meeting on Monday, March 27, 7:30pm, at Lakeview Junior High School.
On April 3, April 4 and April 6, we will hold fitting sessions where 5th grade students will have the opportunity to try band instruments and pick the instrument that fits them best. Fitting sessions for all Middle Schools will be held at Harmon Middle School.
