AMAZING SCIENCE MIDDLE SCHOOL TEAM OF GIRLS
The OMS team of Aishani Ramoju,Prathysha Kothare, and Tanya Mehta were selected as the Northeast Region Team, one of six teams that were chosen out of thousands of entries in The ExploraVision National Competition, sponsored by Toshiba and National Science Teachers Association. Their project envisions new technology that will be possible 20 years into the future. The team won for their idea called AB Scavenger: Game Changer in Alzheimer’s Treatment and their creation is a nanorobot that carries a protein inhibitor to stop the plaque build-up in Alzheimer’s patients. They will now compete against 5 other teams and if they get a first or second place, they go to Washington DC, all expenses paid with their families for 4 days to receive their reward which ranges from $5-10,000 each! To get this, the next step is to create an active website with a computer that Toshiba provided to the school. They also have to make a prototype of their invention. Today, Toshiba representative Jim Bingham was on hand to hand out their computers and encourage the three ladies to dream big as the students presented their project in front of the whole school. He is shown above with the three students and their teacher, Dianne Caspersen.
Fogelsville Elementary students place in national robotics competition. Wonder League, the first elementary robotics competition, announced the winning teams among more than 1,150 teams and recognized each for their outstanding application of computer programming and robotics. Fogelsville team of Owen Rodgers, Brady Phillip, Jason Heller, Chloe Chase, Emily Collins and Natalie Pelizzoni, won 7th Place in the nation. Wonder Workshop founded the Wonder League Robotics Competition to invite students ages five through 11 from across the country to complete seven computer programming challenges using robots, Dash & Dot.
