What is the Coordinate Plane?
The coordinate plane is a grid, by a horizontal number line called the x-axis and the vertical number line called the y-axis. All intersecting at a point in the middle called the origin. Analytic geometry, also referred to as 'coordinate geometry', is the study of geometry using a coordinate system.
Steps!
- Draw and label the graph
- Show the formulas you will be using, including slope and distance
- Show your work
- Have your answer and evidence to prove that your answer is correct.
Formulas
These are the formulas for Distance, Slope and Midpoint. You use these formulas to solve for your answer on the coordinate plane.
