Week 8 - 10/21/2018: Monthly PBIS focus is SAFETY
Thank you to everyone who was able to come to McTeacher Night! We made over $600.00 and it was so much fun:) We will have another one this spring, I can't wait!
Thank you also to the parents who attended out SLC info night on Thursday of this past week. It was a really great conversation around some of the challenges we are facing that we haven't seen before. One of the topics we discussed was 'room clear". A room clear is something that happens when a student, regardless of having a program in the building, becomes so dis regulated that it is in the best interest of everyone involved that the other students in the classroom are moved out of the regular classroom environment. This procedure is standard in all schools, and thankfully isn't needed often. For a room clear, a teacher will notice that a student needs space and is unable to leave the room when directed, so the teacher simply asks the other students to line up and go to another space until the classroom is available again. This has happened twice so far this year. One thing I learned from the meeting is that parents want to be informed when a room clear happens in their child's classroom, so I will make that happen from now on.
Our book fair is this week and we need volunteers! Please click on the following link to sign up to volunteer to help! https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/9040b4caca92aa64-fall
Halloween is coming soon and I'm sure you have questions about costumes. I am totally ok with costumes, but they need to be school appropriate (skirt length, no spaghetti straps), and masks are not allowed due to the inability to see. Also, of course no weapons and no excessive blood - we don't want to scare the little ones! If you have a question about your child's costume, please ask!
Do you want your child to have a chance to play basketball and have FUN!! Little Dribblers is a great opportunity to do just that and it's AFFORDABLE!! I'm waiting on the flyer, but it starts in January and is on Saturday mornings. The cost is only about 35.00 and if you need help with that, I'm there! The location is Evergreen Middle School. This is an awesome opportunity and I want your child to participate!! I'll send out the sign up form as soon as I get it.
Lost and Found is already getting out of control! We will donate items to charity right before Thanksgiving, so be sure to check out the link below to see if you have anything left at school!
