Dublin Jerome High School
October 18, 2019
Good Afternoon!
We are off to a great start in the 2nd quarter. I have had the opportunity to observe our students and teachers in various classroom settings over the last quarter and I am so excited about the learning experiences being offered. The integration of our blended learning tools and the ability of our students to create, curate and synthesize information is exciting.
We are working each day that our students are gathering the knowledge, habits, and skills that will help them be prepared for their post-secondary experiences. Our teachers are working hard to plan and develop those opportunities and our students are embracing and engaging in them.
We are so very fortunate to be in a school and district that embraces learning and innovative classroom experiences. Thank you for sharing your children with us so that we educate them to our fullest potential.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mike

SENIOR PHOTOS
Attention parents of Seniors:
Monday, October 21 and Tuesday, October 22 seniors who have NOT yet had their senior photo taken by HR Imaging for the yearbook need to attend one of the offered sessions.
The photo is free to all seniors. This is the photo that will be placed in the 2019/ 2020 yearbook. The photo session is at Jerome from 3 - 7. Students should have received a reminder email in the dublinstudent gmail account from HR Imaging.
Please contact Carrie McJunkin (Yearbook Advisor) if you have any questions.
**Please note, this photo is different from the ID photo that the senior may have taken just before school started. HR Imaging had senior photo sessions back in July as well.**

From the Parking Lot
- We are currently still accepting parking pass applications for sophomores and juniors that get their drivers license. These will continue to be accepted until the parking lot is full.
- Parents, when dropping your student off please pull as far forward as you can along the curb before letting them out to try to avoid traffic backing up on Hyland Croy and Brand Road.
DJHS Drama Club Presents: The Foreigner
Dublin Jerome Drama Club is proud to present The Foreigner, our first production of the year, October 17 - 19 at 7:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at link below.
Synopsis: “Froggy” is dropping by Betty's Georgia fishing lodge on his way to run training sessions at a nearby army base. He’s been before, but this time he's brought his friend Charlie, who's terrified of talking with strangers, so he tells all that Charlie is a foreigner and speaks no English. Thinking he doesn't understand a word, the other inhabitants of the lodge make many damaging revelations right in front of Charlie. An inspired comic romp with surprise after surprise.

Dublin ACT and Nationwide Children's Presents: Know More Do More
Every day, we hear stories about the prevalence of opioids in our communities — particularly, prescription painkillers — and the dangers these medications pose, especially when it comes to our kids.
The Dublin ACT (Adolescents and Community Together) Coalition, a team focused on preventing and reducing youth substance abuse, partnered with Nationwide Children’s Hospital to develop a series of guides schools, parents and communities can use to prevent and reduce alcohol and other drug misuse in their communities.

AP Exam Registration:
Dear AP Parent,
Attached you will find the Dublin Jerome 2019-20 AP exam registration form with instructions for signing up for AP Exams, as well as a combined AP/IB testing schedule. The AP Student and Parent Bulletin that is typically included in our registration materials will be distributed later this winter.
Due to changes initiated by the College Board, AP Exam registration will take place this year in the fall from September 16th - October 18th.
Research conducted by the college board has found the students who register in the fall perform better on AP Exams, and that students were more engaged and less likely to give up when faced with challenging topics. Please complete the registration form and return it to the Guidance Office no later than October 18th.
The paper registration form MUST be completed to ensure the correct AP exam is ordered. Families unable to make this financial commitment should contact their child’s school counselor in the guidance office.
Payment may be made by cash, check, (made payable to Dublin Jerome High School) or with a credit card through SPS EZ Pay. SPS EZ Pay charges a convenience fee per transaction. Please retain documentation of payments, as you are responsible for the total fee. The paper registration form must be completed for all forms of payment to ensure the correct AP exams are ordered for your child.
