The Hoot Owl

November 2021

In November, we focus on thankfulness. This year, we are going to be doing Thankful Thursday celebrations and would love your children to get involved. We we ask that each Thursday they do something different for their teachers. We also encourage you and your family to join in and focus on thankfulness this month. In a time when things have been very difficult, it's important that we take time to remember the things we are grateful for. We look forward to hearing and seeing the great things you do to create thankfulness at your home. We will be sharing pictures of things happening here at school via social media.

Thursday, November 4 - Write a note thanking your teacher.

Thursday, November 11 - Bring your teacher her favorite treat.

Thursday, November 18 - Complete a TAE on your child's teachers telling them why you, the parent, are grateful for them and their hard work.

Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or campus staff. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Referrals will be accepted through December 17, 2021. You may request a referral form from Erin Anderson, Assistant Principal at You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.

A reservation button has been added to our campus home page. Please use that as we continue having a reservation system for lunch. Remember that we do have tables outside so if it is raining, we will cancel for that day and ask you to reschedule.

Here's what you need to know:

*Sign up using the reservation link below.

*Parents are restricted to only ONE day per cycle so that we can allow more parents to visit.

*No more than 2 people per child will be allowed based on space.

*Parents will need a valid ID and will enter the front of the building.

*Go straight to the cafeteria to meet your child and bring them to the patio tables.

*Lunch tables are on the patio by the playground. Unfortunately they are not covered so if it is raining, you will want to cancel and reschedule your day.

*When lunch is over, parents must leave. Parents cannot attend recess nor visit the child's classroom per Level 3 restrictions.

Our attendance has been hovering about 93% and our goal for the year is 96%. Unless your child is ill, it is important for them to be here at school, on time and stay all day long.

Tardies - We begin counting tardies at 8:01 a.m. We do, however, monitor the line. We take note of the last car in line at 8:01 and all cars after that, the students are counted tardy. Currently, we have a much shorter line between 7:45 - 7:55. If you consistently arrive about 7:55, try adjusting your morning schedule by about 10 minutes, you will not have to wait in line to drop off your child.

Our school did a great job of raising funds through Read-A-Thon. Not only did we raise over $$18,000 , our students logged in that they read over 109,000 minutes of reading time. In order to become a better reader, it takes practice - just like riding a bike. The more we read, the better we become so this has been a great merger of fundraising and developing better readers!
