WLMS Band is named a 2021 Mark of Excellence National Winner
It is with great pride and joy that I would like to announce that the West Lake Middle School Honors Band has been named a 2021 Mark of Excellence National Winner by the National Wind Band Honors Project. Specifically, we were named "National Winner" in the New Music Division (the only middle school to receive this honor this year) and "Commended Winner" in Class AA.
Mark of Excellence is a national music competition that recognizes music programs for high standards in performance. The honor is sponsored by The Foundation for Music Education. This year's competition included hundreds of bands across 38 states.
We know that such recognition is not possible without the support of a great district with great leaders, so thank you for prioritizing high-quality music education - and a high-quality, well-rounded education overall - here in Humble ISD, especially during the challenges presented during the pandemic. I am so proud of my students for all the hard work and commitment they showed to achieve at such a high level, and thank you for fostering an environment in which such success is possible.
