During the week of Monday, October 11, – Friday, October 15, we will be participating in a “Start with Hello” week of activities.

"Start with Hello" teaches students how to reach out to and include those who may be socially isolated as well as to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their school.

We encourage you to talk with your students about the importance of being "upstanders" and looking out for one another.

Students are encouraged to dress up on the following days:

Monday: Wear green shirts

Tuesday: Wear superhero shirts

Wednesday: Wear your favorite team shirt

Thursday: Wear random/crazy socks

Friday: Wear your WLMS spirit shirts

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to any of the WLMS counselors!

WLMS Band is named a 2021 Mark of Excellence National Winner

It is with great pride and joy that I would like to announce that the West Lake Middle School Honors Band has been named a 2021 Mark of Excellence National Winner by the National Wind Band Honors Project. Specifically, we were named "National Winner" in the New Music Division (the only middle school to receive this honor this year) and "Commended Winner" in Class AA.

Mark of Excellence is a national music competition that recognizes music programs for high standards in performance. The honor is sponsored by The Foundation for Music Education. This year's competition included hundreds of bands across 38 states.

We know that such recognition is not possible without the support of a great district with great leaders, so thank you for prioritizing high-quality music education - and a high-quality, well-rounded education overall - here in Humble ISD, especially during the challenges presented during the pandemic. I am so proud of my students for all the hard work and commitment they showed to achieve at such a high level, and thank you for fostering an environment in which such success is possible.

Hispanic Heritage Month takes place September 15 to October 15 every year as a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of the Hispanic community.

At WLMS we celebrated famous Hispanics by researching Hispanic personalities and conducting mock interviews in Spanish using the first person, present tense. The students did a fantastic job!
