SCIS Principal Newsletter
May 12, 2023
Hello Sloan Creek Families!
Happy Friday. I cannot believe we only have a few weeks left of school. We are definitely feeling that the end is near and are celebrating with awards, field trips and performances.
I love that the end of the year brings opportunities to celebrate the successes of each of our children. As a reminder, academic awards will be given to students in homeroom classes on the last day of school. We do not have parents join this however we do want each child to know how valued and proud we are of them-not only in May but ALL year!
I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend. We are definitely looking forward to field day next Tuesday!
Lovejoy Proud,
Courtney Halpin

Attendance Information
Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).
Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences.

If you haven't already, please complete our Intent to Return to Lovejoy ISD form, this information will help plan for a successful school year and prepare for adequate staffing. The form can be found here.
We are looking for responses from all Lovejoy ISD families.
Thank you for your help and support. It’s great to be a Leopard!

NEW!!!! WSMS Notes from the Nurse
7th grade Immunizations
Every 7th grade student, currently enrolled or newly enrolled, must present an updated immunization record to attend school in the fall. There are two required vaccines that are given at age 11 that Lovejoy ISD must have a record of before the semester begins. Without the proper documentation of required vaccinations or a valid medical or conscientious exemption form, students will NOT be allowed to start 7th grade. It is a Texas State Law that your child receives the proper immunizations in order to attend school.
The current required boosters for students entering 7th grade are:
1. TDaP (Tetanus) booster within the last 5 years
2. Meningococcal/Meningitis (MCV4) given on or after the 11th birthday
Parents must provide an updated copy of your 7th grade student’s immunizations by August 7, 2023. Class schedules will be held until shot records are received. Beat the line in August, and turn them in before May 26th.Please contact WSMS Nurse with any questions.
