It is a monument to the third president Thomas Jefferson in the United States. The memorial was authorized 1934. It was built in April 13, 1943. The builder's names were John Russell Pope, Ottor Eggersand, and Daniel Phiggins.

The Jefferson Memorial was made out of White marble, black granite and bronze. It cost 3.2 million dollars!!!!! Rudolph Evans made the statue of Thomas Jefferson in the Memorial. The statue weighs 5 tons!!!!! The Jefferson memorial was designed to look like Thomas Jefferson's home in Virginia.
