Red Hill Lutheran 2018-2019
Back to School August/September Issue
"Happy New Year" from Principal Marquardt!
Welcome Back RHLS Families!
As an outreach ministry and mission of Red Hill Lutheran Church, Red Hill Lutheran School (RHLS) continues to be richly blessed as we provide God’s Word to our students, parents, and community.
Our theme for 2018-2019 school year is “Transformed” based on Romans 12:2, Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.. This is a terrific theme verse that we will be focusing on this year as a church and school community.
RHLS employs more than 60 extremely gifted teachers and staff members who, with their varied God given gifts and talents, serve one Lord, Jesus Christ by sharing the Gospel message of eternal salvation with everyone (students, parents, colleagues, and the greater Tustin and Irvine community). This past year, two of our teachers, Mrs. Lisa Tarkoff and Mr. Matt Smith, were voted into the Top 25 Teachers of Orange County and received recognition for their accomplishments in OC Parenting Magazine. RHLS continues to maintain an extremely positive reputation in our community as being dedicated to both faith and academics.
At RHLS, we want our students to know that while they are in the world, they are not of the world. We hope to develop in them the Christian Worldview through our thoughtful integration of biblical truths and principles into all of our lessons. It is our prayer that our students will develop a sense of philanthropy and compassion for others and shine as lights against darkness. We hope they will be TRANSFORMED by the power of the Holy Spirit this school year.
In order for Red Hill Lutheran teachers to be equipped to guide students in this mission, the school has made a firm commitment to providing teachers with the most current, researched-based professional development opportunities. We believe Proverbs 18:15, which says, “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.” Teachers at RHLS enthusiastically embrace professional growth and development, because they know that we all are designed to continually grow and learn. This growth mindset is something that is modeled to students in the hope to encourage a lifelong love of learning. In support of this endeavor in the 2018-2019, teachers will focus on two major targets this year: Project-Based Learning and Whole Brain Teaching.
It is our hope and prayer this year that both teachers and students will be transformed through the power of the Holy Spirit, renewing their minds, so that their good works will shine and be a light to others.
