Teacher Action Item
Struggling Students Learn — by Teaching
Last week, you were introduced to the idea of struggling students learning by teaching others. What a novel idea.....older students with learning gaps actually minimizing those gaps by teaching others related skills. Watch the video again and work with colleagues across grade levels to make this strategy happen. Email me once you've planned with a colleague and are ready to begin.

SEL Action Item (Second Six Weeks - Week 5)
Gratitude Jar or box (with a twist)
Students write down or draw what they are grateful for AT SCHOOL on index cards or small squares of paper. Put the cards in a jar/box and pull two out every morning this week to read aloud or show to the class. The student who wrote it can own it and share it or you can read it anonymously. Do this activity not as a discussion piece, but to start the day with positive energy.
You might say something like, "Someone in this class is grateful for........" The students can respond with, "that is sooooooo awesome!" These words can have a positive impact on the student whose "grateful thought" is being shared with the class.
**Watch the appropriate video for your grade level prior to the activity**
