All NCCAE parents and families will begin receiving access to this weekly digital newsletter with updates and announcements that would normally go home in our Parent Communication Folders. Due to the need to significantly reduce school printing costs, the majority of announcements will now be sent out via parent emails, parent calls, posted on our school social media and placed on our school website.

Citadel’s Annual Leadership Day at NCCAE

North Charleston Creative Arts Elementary School was honored to welcome over 40 Citadel Cadets to our school as they observed The Citadel’s Annual Leadership Day, where every cadet participates in a leadership and/or service activity.

Four Teams of cadets (over 40 total) spent time in 1st, 2nd, & 4th grade classrooms and led students in a heroism-themed activity. The heroism lessons took approximately 45-50 minutes. The curriculum included a brief discussion about heroism led by Cadet team leaders, then NCCAE students created cards for their heroes. Cadets collected those cards that student's wrote to their heroes (soldiers, police officers, firefighters, veterans, etc.) and distributed them to agencies throughout the area that afternoon. For students who wrote cards to someone they knew (parents, relatives, teachers, etc.) Cadets requested them to personally give the card to those people.

Cadets were also able to serve as lunch buddies to our Kindergarten classes. Needless to say we thoroughly enjoyed having these young men and women in our building interacting with our scholars.

NCCAE PTA Announcements/updates/events

The PTA has been hard at work organizing several parent and family events for the school!

Trunk or Treat was a huge hit! Thank you to Ms. Katie McDaniel Ospechook, PTA President and her team of volunteers that made the night a success! It was so exciting to see everyone that came out to enjoy the event.

Our trunk winner was...drum roll please...The SOA Pirates! This trunk was a huge hit for the students. They had to "walk the plank" to retrieve their treat and according to our students they really enjoyed taking pictures with the pirates. It was really special to see students from SOA volunteering their time to come out and participate in our school's event.
