Focus for the Week
As for our Faculty Focus this week, there was a lot of information sent out last week, so I thought it best to use this week's newsletter as a recap. I believe all pertinent links are now on the info hub; please let me know if that is not the case.
All my best,
Lynne

Follow Up - Updated Remote Learning Guidance
From DESE:
Strengthening Our Remote Learning Experience
From Our 4.29 Faculty Meeting - I believe I got Slides back from every group on the updated remote learning guidelines 2, 3 & 4. I have integrated them into the Slides from our 4.29 meeting. Please review Slides to see what others' came up with.
Some Houses have shared their responses to #1. If you haven't yet, or did and don't see them in the Slides, please send them to me (again) when complete and I will finish that part up.
Where We Stand with the MA Secondary Prerequisite Content Standards
Prerequisite Content Standards
Massachusetts Secondary Prerequisite Content Standards 4.20.20
Please use Grade Level Curriculum meeting time and Vertical meeting next Wednesday for this work.
To your Slides presentation from Wednesday, please add two slides for each grade level (See science example here):
One listing the prerequisite standards already covered.
One listing the prerequisite standards not yet covered.
Curriculum and instruction from here forward should focus on these standards, either revisiting for reinforcement, enrichment, project-based exploration, or introducing and teaching the content and skills.
Please complete by Wednesday 5/6 at Vertical; it will be helpful if you can send me a "heads up" email when yours are complete.
Misc Reflections and Advisements from Last Week
- Continue to monitor quantity of work assigned, particularly around surprising numbers of incomplete assignments...is it too much?
- Reward partially completed work and effort...we don't know what is preventing or causing this...continue to ask why?
- Consult with liaisons and counselors about quantity and pacing as they can best advise for the students on their caseloads.
- Leave assignments in Google Classroom so that students can refer back to them.
- Incorporate phone calls into communication routines for a personal touch, especially when work is missing.
- Homeroom teachers divide and conquer, running point for communication by House, and
- Specialists coordinate among one another
- Dan Thomases shared a form for specialists to use to keep core teachers informed about which kids are struggling in their classes. Guidance/Admin will take on kids who are struggling in multiple classes.
