World War 2 Hunt Project
What unique technology did Germany have and how did the technology help in battle?
Advances in German aircraft
Most of the aircraft created by the Germans were very remarkable. Germany had been well advanced from the beginning of the war in aircraft. The Germans kept on modifying them and putting new variants on the aircraft. During World War 2, Germany started to make more powerful engines, more weapons, armor protection, and larger fuel tanks. Larger fuel tanks and better engines made it easier for the Germans to fly farther in a shorter amount of time.
How aircraft was used in battle
The German aircraft was more advanced then any other aircraft made by other countries during the war. The first ever stealth bomber was created by the Nazis. It could fly 600 mph and could carry 2000 pounds of weapons and equipment. It made it easier for the Germans not to be spotted or attacked during a mission or transporting equipment. Another aircraft that was rocket powered could go up to 700 mph. The Allied air crafts could barely gun down these air crafts. It was remarkable piece of equipment but it was harder to gun down allied aircraft because its speed was too fast.
German Stealth Bomber
This aircraft was very remarkable because it was the first aircraft with stealth technology. Allies were unable to detect it with radar
Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet
The first ever rocket powered aircraft that was very useful for not getting hit by enemy guns while in air.
Technology that was used with Aircraft
The things that were useful to aircraft was radio navigation, synthetic fuel, and nerve gas. The synthetic fuel was more efficient than the basic fuels that other countries used. Germany built plants to produce this fuel to become independent from relying on other sources. They used this fuel to travel faster in a shorter amount of time.
Radio Navigation was the closest thing to GPS. Their night bombers could travel to their target efficiently using radio transmitters. None of the allies had anything like this. It was a very effective piece of technology that was very useful for Germany during combat.
Nerve gas was not used as much by Germany because they thought that the allied powers may have nerve gas also. They didn't want to risk the use of it because they did not want nerve gas raining down on their soldiers. But the allies didn't have nerve gas. Germany would have used the nerve gas to rain down from planes onto fields where soldiers were fighting.
U-Boats (Advances and uses in battle)
Due to improving the boats over time, the U-boats were able to go farther out into the Atlantic, and began traveling in groups like wolf packs. They would summon each other by radio. The U-boats then would surface the water and attack during the night. They mostly attacked during the night because they were barely visible at the surface of the water. The U-boats created an easy way to destroy ships but later on in the war, the US made new technology to detect the U boats. During the time they could not be detected, they were very effective in war. Stealth technology made their U-Boats invisible to Infra-Red search lights.
Ground Warfare (Tanks and Mines)
The Panther was considered the best German tank that was ever created from WWII. It had better armor protection from all of Germany's previous tanks. It also had a long barreled 75mm gun with 79 rounds and had two machine guns. The mines used by the Germans were remote controlled and used its explosives to blow up enemy tanks
How they were used in battle
The Panther was made to counter the Russian's tanks. This tank was very difficult to take down and was very accurate and durable . Since this tank was very remarkable to the Germans, they used it through the rest of the war. The mines were used to deliver explosives to the defensive front and were also used to blow up tanks and vehicles
