Signifigance: Allies victory prevented Germany from capturing the Suez Canal, that linked the Mediterranean and Red Sea. It stopped the axis powers from occupying Egypt which would come with the main entry way into the middle east.

Interesting Fact: Winston Churchill was convinced that the battle of El Alamein marked a turning point. He ordered the ringing of church bells all over Britain.
