Short Biography
Harry Houdini was a magician that was born in Budapest, Hungary, with the name Erich Weisz, on the 27th of March in the year 1874. When he was a young boy, he moved to the U.S. (Appleton, Wisconsin). Later in his life, he said that was where he was originally from. He was enraptured by the aspect of magic. He learned it and became a well - known escape artist/magician. He was known for his acts with handcuffs. Houdini was also an expert lockpick. He soon moved on to the “bigger stuff,” which included getting out of straightjackets, locked tanks full of water, and crates that had been nailed shut. His best act was called the Chinese Water Torture Cell, In this, Harry was put in a tank full of water, hanging by his feet. He had to hold his breath for more than three minutes in order to escape. This was a crowd favorite. Harry Houdini died at age 52 on October 31 of 1926.
