Students of the Week!
Alyssa Mahon is our literacy student of the week. Alyssa is always doing the right thing and is also a great partner to her classmates. This week she worked hard on the rough draft of her text structure magazine and really showed what she knew about text structures!
JAES PRIDE Students of the Term:
Lydia Murray is Ms. Cotey's PRIDE student for this term. Lydia is always a cooperative friend who gives her personal best. She is kind and helpful in all she does at JAES.
Math News:
We will have a quiz on Monday covering dividing fractions. We will review before hand using pictures and models to help us divide, as well as our strategy of "Multiply by the Reciprocal" (or Keep, change, flip).
Next week we will also look at how fractions represent division and have a quiz over this on Thursday. Students can take their Math Folder home at any time to have extra practice and to study for these quizzes. Please send folders back daily, because we use them daily.
Also, starting this week, and we will do this every Friday from this point forward, we will have a "Spiral Review Quiz" over our spiral review questions that we have completed in class during the week. These are review skills and if students pay attention in class to our review discussion, they should do fine on the quiz.
Science News (Ward Homeroom Only):
-How does the environment effect the traits that an organism develops?
-How do these traits give organisms an advantage to survive and reproduce?
We will have a quiz on Friday covering adaptations and heredity from the previous week. Classwork will be sent home as a study help, and students can also get on Discovery Education on their Chromebooks at home and review Unit 5.1 and 5.2.
