Phonics/Sight Words
Phonics: Last week we began focusing on long vowels with words ending with /e/. Ask your child to tell you about "Super e" and how he makes the vowel long. We have practiced words with long /a/ and /i/.

Reading
This week we will be talking about how to keep our body healthy. Students will ask and answer questions about key details in a text. They will also identify the main topic and retell key details in a text and identify basic similarities an differences between two texts on the same topic.
Writing
Students will compose informative/explanatory tests in which they name what they are writing about and supply information about the topic. They will also write to answer a given question on a topic. The children will be writing a topic sentence, at least 3 details and a closing. They will need to write with correct capitalization, punctuation, finger spacing, and spell sight words correctly.
Math
Topic 12 is working on measurement. Students will describe measurable attributes of objects, such as length or weight. They will use words such as longer, shorter, taller, as tall as, longest, shortest, lightest and heavier. We will test over this topic on Friday.
