Boys Basketball Wins Back To Back District Championships, Moves To 26-2 On The Season

The Boys Basketball team turned in an impressive performance on Friday night as they dominated #5 State ranked FZS in the Class 5 District 7 Championship game. Behind a large crowd of Howell faithful the Vikings won 79-44 to advance to the State Sectional game. The Vikings were led by Daylan Dalton (20 pts), Patrick Schulte (16 pts), Sam Maddox (14 pts) and Matthew Simmons (11 pts). The win marks back to back District Championships for the boys program. The Vikings will now face off with Battle High School at Maryville University on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. Gates at Maryville University will open at 5:15 p.m. After having the largest road crowd of the season last Friday night, the Vikings are hoping for strong supoort from Viking fans again on Wednesday night.

Girls Basketball Falls In District Championship Game

The Girls Basketball program competed in their second straight District Championship on Friday night. The Lady Vikings battled but fell to FZN in front of the largest road crowd of the season. The girls program finished a successful 2018-19 campaign with a 15-13 record and a Marquette Tournament Championship. Congratulations to the girls program on a great season and thank you seniors for a great four years that included two Conference Championships, two District Championships, a State Sectional appearance and a Final Four appearance!

Taylor Russell Scores 1,000th Point

Congratulations to Girls Basketball player Taylor Russell on scoring her 1,000th point as a Viking. Taylor reached this historic mark late in the District Championship game on Friday night. Taylor becomes the third Lady Viking Basketball player in the past three years to reach 1,000 points. This season Taylor led the program by averaging 17.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists a game. Congratulations to Taylor on this great accomplishment!

Boys Basketball State Sectional Set For Maryville University

The boys basketball program won back to back District Championships for the first time in program history and have now advanced to the State Sectionals for the second straight year. The Vikings will make the short drive to Maryville University on Wednesday night to take on Battle High School. After having the largest road crowd of the season on Friday night help lead the Vikings to victory, the program is looking forward to another large crowd on Wednesday night. 548 Students Out For Spring Sports

The spring sports season kicked off on Monday and the Howell spring sports programs saw record numbers. Nearly 550 students came out for a sport this spring. During the spring Howell offers girls soccer, boys tennis, baseball, girls lacrosse, track, boys volleyball, and boys golf. Good luck to all of our spring programs as they begin their 2019 seasons!

Art Club One Of Many Ways To Get Involved At Howell

The Art Club is attracting large numbers of students that want to further develop their skills and participate in an after school activity at Howell. Students that are interested in the Art Club can drop by room B000 every Tuesday after school to be part of this growing group. At Howell nearly 75% of students are involved in at least one activity, club or sport. Howell currently has nearly 60 activities, clubs and sports for students to get involved in outside of the normal school day. These opportunities include district sponsored groups as well as student formed and led groups with staff volunteers. Those involved in an activity, club or sport at Howell on average have higher attendance, higher GPA's, and lower discipline infractions when compared to peers not involved in an activity, club or sport at Howell.

The summer, fall, winter, and spring dead periods and starting dates for MSHSAA sponsored activities has been released for the 2019-20 school year. These dates can be found below. We hope that this information helps all Vikings and their families coordinate and prepare for the summer and sports seasons ahead during the 2019-20 school year.
