ALL PRO DADS of Brookwood Elementary May Breakfast
All Pro Dads of Brookwood Elementary held their final Breakfast with Dad Meeting of the 2021 - 2022 school year on Thursday, May 12th. The topic of the meeting was Responsibility, and dads also got the chance to tell the group what made them proud of their child or children.

Field Day for Grades 3 - 5 is May 17th!
Field Day will be held on Tuesday, May 17th for 3rd - 5th grade. Parents are invited to attend during their child's grade level Field Day below:
- 3rd Grade: 1:30 - 3:00 pm
- 4th Grade: 11:20 am - 12:50 pm
- 5th Grade: 9:00 - 11:00 am
Field Day Volunteers Needed
Mrs. Wardle and Mrs. Mixon are looking for volunteers to help with Field Day on May 17th. Volunteers are needed to help set up Field Day for the day as well as helping run Field Day centers. Volunteers can sign up on the Field Day 2022 Sign Up Genius.
Volunteers will be assigned a center that they will stay at during the whole shift. Since volunteers will not rotate with their child, you might want to sign up for a volunteer shift that is not during your child's grade level Field Day.
Kindergarten Registration is NOW OPEN!
Do you have a child who will turn 5 years old before September 1, 2022? Then it is time to register for KINDERGARTEN!
Kindergarten Registration began online on April 11, 2022. You can find all the information you to need to help you get ready at the New to Brookwood page of the Brookwood Elementary website.
If you do not have a kindergarten-aged child, please help Brookwood Elementary spread the word about Kindergarten Registration to your friends and neighbors.
Play 2 Learn is coming to Brookwood Elementary!
Play 2 Learn is a GCPS program for young children— ages birth to 5— which will be offered at Brookwood Elementary School during 2022 - 2023 school year. Children and parents and other adults in the family learn TOGETHER through engaging lesson plans in a high-quality preschool environment for 90 minutes each week during the school year. Families are empowered to keep the learning going at home so that all children will be ready for Kindergarten including:
- Learn how to find the teachable moment in everyday activities
- Learn how to engage with your child in play
- Learn how to continue learning at home or anywhere
- Learn about your child's education milestones
- Learn how to get your child READY FOR SCHOOL!

A MESSAGE FROM The BES HEALTH RESPONSE TEAM
Did you know that Brookwood ES has a Health Response Team (HRT) which manages and communicates COVID related information with staff, students and parents? The HRT gathers information, conducts contact investigations and communicates as needed. In the next few months, it is important that you continue to alert the school if your child develops symptoms or tests positive for the virus.
Common symptoms include:
Fever (100.4 or higher), Cough, Shortness of breath, muscle/body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, congestion/runny nose, nausea/vomiting, sore throat, fatigue

Bronco Boot Camp for Crews Rising 6th Graders
Rising 6th Graders are invited to register for Bronco Boot Camp to get an early peek of a day-in-the-life at Crews Middle School. Students will get opportunities to tour the building, preview 6th curriculum, practice class changes, and go on a scavenger hunt. Parents will also be invited to a virtual Q &A on the last day of camp.

Brookwood Cluster Entrepreneurs Camp for Rising 6th - 8th Graders
The Brookwood Cluster Entrepreneurs Camp for rising 6th through 8th graders will be July 18 - 21st at Crews Middle School. Students will learn how to have an entrepreneur mindset as they create a pop-up business.
Registration opens May 2nd, and space is limited. Download the registration form to submit via the Brookwood Community School.
Crews Middle School Summer Reading
The Crews Middle School Media Center challenges rising 6th grade students to read 1200 minutes (about 20 minutes a day) this summer! Students will track their reading on Beanstack. Five Forks Middle School Summer Reading Program
The Five Forks Media Center invites rising 6th graders at FFMS to participate in their Take 5 Books Summer Reading Program. Students who read three or more books over the summer months will be invited to a reading celebration and entered into a drawing for awesome prizes. For more information, please view the Take 5 Books for Summer Reading information. Students are also encouraged to complete Five Forks Summer Reading Bingo for an additional prize.

On Tuesday, sons got to spend quality time with the special women in their life at PTA's first of two 2022 Mother Son Candlelight Date Nights. Attendees enjoyed dinner, dancing, crafts, face painting, and more.

Brookwood Youth Running Club for rising 4th and 5th Grade students
Brookwood Youth Running Club registration has open for students who will be in 4th or 5th grade during the 2022 - 2023 school year. The club will focus middle distance and distance running. Middle School Summer Adventures: Career Exploration at Maxwell High School of Technology
The Summer Adventure Career Exploration at Maxwell High School will run May 31 - June 3 from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. The Career Exploration programs are designed for current 5th - 8th graders. Students can choose to explore programs in the careers of animation, automotive services, cosmetology, culinary arts, and more.
