The 7th Grade Skinny
October 5th
Quote of the Week
Mrs. Mercado: "No nay naying in English class!"
A 7th grade student: "Oh Mrs. Mercado, they aren't nay-naying, their whipping!"
And Mrs. Mercado goes home for the day feeling old.
When your 7th grader just can't get out of bed to get to morning carpool on time...
If your 7th grader comes down with an illness the morning of, please send an email to the advisor letting us know this. If he or she is able to, please have the 7th grader send the email.
Please help us teach our 7th graders learn to be responsible.
Students who arrive later than 7:40 or miss morning carpool without an excuse will see their "Accepts Responsibility" skill grade go down on the report card.
Conference Update: Conference sign-ups begin Wednesday, October 7th at 10am. Click on the link below for more information!
When your 7th grader comes home and says there is barely any homework because of ERBs, this is what you should know.....
Mayfield provides ERB standardized exams in grades 4-7. These exams measure achievement, and we use them as a way to get students used to standardized exams. The testing in fall is assessing achievement from the previous year. Exams are given in the morning. If your child is absent for one or more exams, we will hold make-up sessions at other times. Homework is still assigned this week, though it may be lighter.
Results can be picked up at the Registrar's office in the new year, and if you have questions about the results, please feel free to contact Ann Vradenburg in the Learning Center.
Some tips for your child before ERBs:
- No studying is necessary for the exams
- Get a good night's sleep
- Eat a solid breakfast with protein
