Rioter Meddler named head boss for League, TFT, and Wild Rift
Andrei “Meddler” van Roon has been appointed the new head of League of Legends, Wild Rift, and Teamfight Tactics. He will now oversee the production of each of the titles, according to a press release from Riot Games.
The Rioter joined the company over 10 years ago, first as an associate designer. He has since switched roles several times, leading designer teams for 토토사이트 years until serving as League‘s game director since 2019.
Meddler will “oversee the future development” of each of the three games “while leading those teams as they continue to strive to meet and exceed player expectations across the portfolio,” according to the press release.
“I’ve been a huge fan of League from closed beta onwards and have loved all the different ways I’ve had a chance to contribute to the game,” Meddler said on Twitter, adding “getting a lot more involved with TFT and Wild Rift” by taking his new position.
In an interview with Polygon, Meddler talked about his vision for League‘s future and development, including the regularity of patches and balancing the different needs of players.
He also mentioned creating a Wild Rift-exclusive champion was not excluded from the conversation, saying “we’ll want to explore—what does a Wild Rift-unique champion look like?”
The best support champions in League of Legends
The support role in League of Legends can often be a thankless job. A good support can go relatively unnoticed during the game, but playing poorly can get you ruthlessly flamed.
The types of supports in League can be split into three categories: Enchanters, engagers, and poke supports. While some champions cross over into multiple categories, it’s a pretty safe golden triangle to go by.
Enchanter supports, like Soraka or Nami, focus on keeping the bot lane carry alive through the laning phase with heals and shields. Enchanter supports usually go well into poke supports because they can out-sustain the poke, but struggle into engagers due to a lack of mobility and relative squishiness.
Engage supports, like Alistar or Leona, look to all-in the enemy bot lane during the laning phase with crowd control and high early-game damage. They can capitalize on enchanters during the laning phase because of their lack of poke, but can’t deal with poke supports effectively since they whittle down your health before you can even think about engaging.
Poke supports, like Zyra or Brand, succeed by annoying the enemy laners as much as possible with long-range abilities, forcing them to waste their potions or heals. If an enemy gets greedy, they also have a fair amount of burst in their kits to delete them from Summoner’s Rift. Because of this, they can deal with engage supports. But enchanters can usually out-sustain a poke support’s mana pool, rendering their poke ineffective.
With this in mind, let’s break down the top five supports for League’s Patch 12.16.
Janna
Pros
Good scaling
Amazing in disengaging and protecting your allies
Cons
Squishy
Not that easy to master
At the start of the season, Janna was one of the most popular champions in solo queue due to a new and rather unusual way of playing her. The strategy was simple—all you had to do was to pick Smite, assist your jungler, and pick up all the objective bounty gold. But now Janna returns to the meta as traditional support who reigns supreme in the bot lane.
Item build
Janna has lots of crowd control tools, which she can use to lock down enemy champions or to disengage and create space for her allies. When you have a support with a few CC abilities, it’s always worth picking Glacial Augment as your main rune. With this rune under your belt, you will be to create slow zones around enemy champions that have been struck with an immobilizing skill, slowing them down further and creating more space for your team to react and finish them off.
Afterward, it’s best to choose runes that will allow you to replenish your stats during the laning phase and that will help you with gold management and cooldowns. Biscuit Delivery is a must-have for Janna due to her being mana-hungry, especially in the early game. Magical Footwear will allow you to spare some gold, which is needed for other support items. Lastly, we have Cosmic Insight, which lowers the cooldowns of your Summoner’s Spells and active abilities on items, of which you will have quite a few.
To finish your rune choices, there is no better option than Font of Life and Revitalize from the Resolve tree. The former marks the opponents you immobilize, allowing your allies who attack the marked enemies to heal. Revitalize, on the other hand, enhances the power of your shield and heals, which combined with Heal is very powerful.
Ability priority
While playing Janna, the best way to spend your ability points is R>E>W>Q. Eye of the Storm (E) has both aggressive and defensive capabilities, since it empowers your healing and shielding every time you impair an enemy champion, and you can use this ability to shield your ally as well. Once they’re shielded, they deal more damage, which can make a difference when trading in the laning phase. Zephyr (W), on the other hand, gives you more movement speed while available, making it easier to roam, which is key in the meta. It can also strike a single enemy and slow them down for a fair amount.
Game plan
Janna is truly versatile support, however, one of her cons is a fairly weak early game. During that phase, her cooldowns are long, her abilities consume a lot of mana to activate, and she doesn’t have strong basic statistics on her own. Thus, before you reach level six, you shouldn’t be stepping out of the line too much. instead, you should just try to safely get to that milestone with your AD carry.
Once you reach level six, you could start roaming throughout the map. Janna is quite squishy and doesn’t have a lot of ganking potential, but when combined with a jungler, she can really make a difference. Therefore, if there’s a window of opportunity somewhere on Summoner’s Rift, don’t hesitate to roam there and do your best.
Janna also does great in teamfights, due to her aggressive and defensive qualities. She can land a crowd control combo and help you catch enemies that are fleeing or out of position or can make a lot of space with her ultimate, where her allies can heal as well. What you do depends solely on the game state, so make sure to evaluate that throughout the match.

Morgana
Image via Riot Games
Pros
Superb crowd control tools
High damage
Great protection from Black Shield
Cons
Easy to catch and shut down
Ultimate can be tough to hit since enemies can dash away
Morgana returns to our list of the best supports in the game, and it’s for a few major reasons. Even though she didn’t receive any direct changes in the last couple of patches, she fits perfectly in the always-shifting bot lane meta right now. Her powerful crowd control tools and the ability to protect her AD carry from popular mid lane mages make her one of the most versatile and useful supports in the game.
Item build
Despite having a great defensive tool in the form of Black Shield, Morgana excels in aggressive plays, especially due to her Dark Binding, Soul Shackles, and Tormented Shadow. With those abilities in her kit, she can start making plays as early as in the laning phase, so it’s best to pick Arcane Comet to elevate her potential early. With that major rune, she will send out a damaging comet every time she hits a champion with an ability. And with her skill set, she should be doing this plenty of times.
Next in line, we have runes that help Morgana with her mana issues and furthermore increase her damage. Manaflow Band is a tool that enhances Morgana’s mana, which is always helpful on AP mages like her. Transcendence allows you to lower the cooldown of your abilities, making you even more dangerous in teamfights. Scorch makes your damage-dealing abilities burn enemies for a few seconds, which can tip the scales of early-game skirmishes in your favor.
When it comes to the filler tree, you should pick Perfect Timing and Biscuit Delivery. The former will allow you to be aggressive early with a Commencing Stopwatch that you will be given, while the latter will gift you some utility in the first minutes of the match.
Ability priority
Morgana has one proper ability priority order, and it’s R>Q>W>E. The reasoning for that is simple: Dark Binding (Q) is your main CC tool and one of the best in the game overall. You want it to deal as much damage as it can and to be on the lowest cooldown as possible, so you want to make it your priority in terms of leveling. Tormented Shadow is another spell that significantly damages enemies, so you want to maximize it second. While putting points in Black Shield would lower its cooldown, it’s better to go with our suggested solution to elevate Morgana’s aggressive potential.
Game plan
The game plan for Morgana is similar to any other AP-based, aggressive support champion that possesses crowd control tools. You want to get aggressive as early as possible since, against squishy matchups, there is no one to stop your aggression when you’re hitting your Qs. Even in unfavorable matchups, you can simply ask your jungler for help, and with their aid, you should be able to pick up easy kills in your lane.
Morgana’s real power spike begins in the mid game, though. By that point, you should already have your ultimate and Stopwatch, or even Zhonya’s Hourglass competed. With those tools under your belt, you can begin engaging the enemy team with your stasis and ultimate combo. Doing so on your own is tough, however, since enemies can easily escape the range of your ultimate, especially if they’re mobile. Therefore, it’s best to follow your top laner or jungler in their engages, so that enemies won’t immediately focus on escaping your Soul Shackles.
In terms of items, Morgana differs a bit from other supports. While she still should be completing items like Watchful Wardstone, the main goal in picking your items is to increase Morgana’s damage as much as you can, while also claiming some aggressive and defensive assets. As a result, items like Zhonya’s Hourglass, Liandry’s Anguish, Rylai’s Crystal Scepter, and Morellonomicon are compulsory.
Sona
Pros
Annoying poke
Impactful ultimate
Healing
Cons
Very squishy
Mana-hungry
Even though she’s rarely seen in professional play and hasn’t been updated much in season 12 of League, Sona, similar to Morgana, has seen a spike in win ratio in the last few patches. And like the aforementioned mage support, Sona also has a bunch of tools that can make a tremendous difference both in the laning phase and in late-game teamfights.

Healing

Very squishy
Mana-hungry
Even though she’s rarely seen in professional play and hasn’t been updated much in season 12 of League, Sona, similar to Morgana, has seen a spike in win ratio in the last few patches. And like the aforementioned mage support, Sona also has a bunch of tools that can make a tremendous difference both in the laning phase and in late-game teamfights.
Item build
Screengrab via Riot Games
Sona has annoying poke that, when mixed with Summon Aery, can quickly lower your opponents’ health bars by a significant amount in the laning phase, which is why you should pick it. When it comes purely to this aggressive poke, you should almost always choose Arcane Comet, but Sona also has a healing and shielding ability. That is when Summon Aery is superior to Arcane Comet since it also shields your allies once you empower or protect them with abilities.
In the remaining three runes, you should pick runes that help you with your mana issues, increase your damage, and lower your cooldowns. Regarding the former, Manaflow Band does wonders since it permanently enhances your maximum mana and positively influences your mana regeneration. Transcendence lowers the cooldowns of your abilities every few levels, while Gathering Storm simply gives you adaptive ability power.
Sona players should slightly boost their healing and shielding when they get a chance, and that’s when Revitalize comes into play. It makes your heal stronger, especially on targets below 40 percent health. Conditioning boosts your sustain a bit by giving you armor and magic resistance.
Ability priority
While playing Sona, you should maximize your abilities as follows: R>W>Q>E. Aria of Perseverance (W) not only heals your teammates but also shields them for a remarkable amount. If you gain a Power Chord after using it, your next basic attack will also lower your target’s damage for a few seconds, which can be crucial both in the laning phase and in the late game. As a second skill, it’s better to invest in your poking potential by putting points in your Hymn of Valor (Q).
Game plan
Sona’s game plan changes every match since she’s very dependent on the AD carry she is matched with and on the enemy matchups. Despite having a few powerful tools, like her ultimate or her W, she can’t single-handedly carry games since she’s too squishy and immobile to turn fights around on her own. What’s more, once Sona falls behind, it’s really tough to come back into the game.
Therefore, once you’re playing her, make sure to reevaluate every game as much as you can. With your poke, you can easily skirmish in the laning phase, but make sure to watch out for aggressive champions like Blitzcrank or Pyke, who can eliminate you early if you get caught.
In teamfights, Sona should follow her team’s engage with her ultimate, though she shouldn’t start battles on her own. Even if she catches multiple enemies with it, she’s weak and easy to catch, so it’s tough to achieve much on her own.
During the game, Sona should collect typical items for AP-based utility supports. Moonstone Renewer and Watchful Wardstone are must-haves, naturally. Besides, you can pick up items like Staff of Flowing Water, Chemtech Putrifier, and Archangel’s Stuff.
Taric
Pros
Tanky
Game-changing ultimate
Plenty of utility
Cons
Immobile
Easy to shut down
Taric is yet another unique support in the game who has often been called one of the most versatile options—and for good reason. In his kit, players will find healing, a stun, and an ultimate that makes his team invulnerable to any damage for a few seconds. Mastering and making perfect use of him is no easy feat, though.
Item build
Taric is one of a few supports in League that has a targeted stun, which comes from his E. It’s fairly easy to lock down enemy squishes with it, so it’s smart to pick Glacial Augment. With that, every immobilized champion will send three glacial rays from them toward you and other enemies, which will often turn the battlefield in your favor. Each zone slows opponents and reduces their damage against you and your allies.
Down the line, players should choose runes that enhance their utility, both in the laning phase and the game overall. Therefore, Magical Footwear and Biscuit Delivery should be picked, which allow Taric to save some gold early and grant him a bit of extra health and mana in the first six minutes of the game. Cosmic Insight, on the other hand, lowers the cooldowns of your item abilities and summoner spells, which will come in handy in the late game.
Last but not least, you want to be as tanky as you can so you can properly use your ultimate in teamfights. To boost your defensive qualities, it’s smart to go for Conditioning and Revitalize, which give you additional resistances and increase your shielding and healing power.
Ability priority
While playing Taric, players should go for this ability priority order: R>E>Q>W. Having Dazzle (E), his stun, on a lower cooldown is much more helpful than having a stronger heal early on since you want to go for favorable trades and roams whenever you can. Nevertheless, after you have Dazzle at level five, easily maximize your healing potential from Starlight’s Touch (Q).
Game plan
The game plan on Taric is as simple as it can be. You want to put your stun from E to use as fast as possible, so you either should look for trades in the laning phase or for opportunities to roam with your jungler. When it comes to the former, though, you may get easily poked out by ranged supports, so in most cases you should just try roaming as soon as you hit level three, similarly to Pyke.
As the game goes on, the crucial point of playing Taric is proper ultimate usage. If you use it too fast, enemies will just disengage and wait for it to wear off. If you use it too late, your allies or you might not live long enough to receive the invulnerability from it. Therefore, it’s necessary to know about the risks of the enemy team composition and how to play against them. What’s more, try to stay more in the backline before you use your ultimate so that your life doesn’t go to waste.
In terms of items, Taric will pick up standard options for tanky, utility-oriented supports. Items like Locket of the Solari and Winter’s Approach (which transforms into Fimbulwinter) are mandatory. Afterward, you can either increase your support utility with picks like Watchful Wardstone and Knight’s Vow, or enhance your tankiness with Randuin’s Omen, Frozen Heart, or Warmog’s Armor.
Amumu
Pros
Two great crowd control tools
Quite tanky
Fantastic engages and teamfighting
Cons
Tough to make an impact once fallen behind
Skillshot oriented
Originally a jungler, Amumu has been shifting toward the support role in the past few years—and in season 12, he’s one of the best in the game. His tremendous crowd control tools make him an invaluable asset for any team, while his tankiness and other abilities allow him to quickly take control of the bot lane and late-game teamfights.
Item build
Amumu’s gameplay relies mostly on going in with his Bandage Toss and then immobilizing as many enemies as he can with Curse of the Sad Mummy. Therefore, the wisest major rune Amumu support can get is Aftershock. It increases his resistances after immobilizing enemy champions, which makes it easier to survive after you engage. After 2.5 seconds of immobilizing an enemy, the rune will also explode, dealing magic damage to nearby enemies.
Next in line we have Font of Life, Bone Plating, and Unflinching. The former marks the enemy champion once you immobilize it, allowing your allies to heal when they target the marked opponents. The other two runes simply bolster your tankiness by making you take less damage from enemy champions and boosting your resistances a little.
Amumu’s main asset is his ultimate, which has a long cooldown. To lower it, you should choose Ultimate Hunter from the Domination tree, which shortens it with every unique takedown. Cheap Shot works nicely with your kit since it makes Amumu deal more damage to impaired champs.
Ability priority
On Amumu, there is no better ability priority than R>Q>E>W. Bandage Toss (Q) is Amumu’s main gap closer, engage tool, and skill overall, besides his ultimate. Like most of his abilities, though, it has a lengthy cooldown and takes quite a lot of mana to use, so it’s best to maximize it first to make it easier to use. Afterward, it’s much smarter to put points in Tantrum (E) instead of Despair (W) since the former makes you take reduced damage and deals more damage than the latter if you activate it.
Game plan
Amumu’s game plan is very similar to other aggressive supports like Blitzcrank, Nautilus, and Pyke. Your goal is to take over control of the game as early as possible.
Naturally, at first, you’d like to win your bot lane, but that’s often dictated by your duo partner and the two enemies you are facing. In the end, some compositions should always win over others. And with Amumu, once you go in, you put it all on the line. If you have an aggressive, high-damage early AD carry like Lucian to follow you, you may easily engage. But otherwise, it’s not advised.
In the meta, supports often follow junglers around, so if you’re not lucky in the bot lane, you may search for some easy kills and assists in other lanes, especially since they may activate your Ultimate Hunter rune faster. In teamfights, your main goal is to engage into squishy targets, though that’s easier said than done. You will be your team’s frontline, however, so make sure you engage onto as many targets as 메이저놀이터추천 you can and stun a few enemies with your ultimate.
When it comes to items, Evenshroud is your best choice due to the defensive qualities it brings. Afterward, you should obtain more defensive items like Thornmail and Watchful Wardstone, though Zhonya’s Hourglass is also advised.

DWG KIA dominate SANDBOX to secure LCK’s third seed at Worlds 2022
The LCK Regional Qualifier started with DWG KIA and Liiv SANDBOX locking horns for the third seed spot at the 2022 League of Legends World Championship. While both teams gave their all, it was DWG KIA who walked away with a 3-1 victory.
Fans had been worried about DWG’s form after they had lost their final four games in the regular season of the 2022 LCK Summer Split. But it feels like they have finally got their rhythm back.
In the first game, DWG KIA outplayed SANDBOX on multiple fronts. From Nuguri shutting down Dove in the top lane to deokdam outfarming Prince, the entire team had a dominating presence on Summoner’s Rift.
They secured all the map objectives (except for the first Baron), and snowballed to bag the first game of the series.
The story flipped 180 degrees in the second game. This time, it was SANDBOX who commanded the game. Although DWG managed to gain some control back in the mid game, SANDBOX crushed all their efforts by acing them after securing the Ocean Soul.
It allowed them to bounce back and equalize the series.
But DWG was not fazed by the loss. They came back even stronger in the next game, making it a completely one-sided affair. DWG stomped SANDBOX and secured all the map objectives while the enemy only managed to secure a single kill in the entire game. Thus, the game was over within 28 minutes with DWG taking a 2-1 lead.
With their backs against the wall, SANDBOX’s approach in game four was to play safe. It was only in the 18th minute that they got the first blood in the game. But this strategy backfired as Nuguri’s Aatrox became a monstrous frontline for DWG in the late game.
With him at the helm and deokdam in the backline, DWG was able to jump at the enemy lineup in skirmishes. SANDBOX was not able to hold up 메이저사이트추천 against this aggression and their defenses finally crumbled down.
With this victory, DWG KIA have now confirmed their spot in Worlds 2022, becoming the third seed from the LCK.
On the other hand, Liiv SANDBOX’s journey has not yet ended. They will face the winner between KT Rolster and DRX on Sept. 3. The winner of that series will be LCK’s fourth seed.

Team Liquid reverse sweep CLG, eliminate them from LCS and Worlds contention
Silver Scrapes sounded for today’s LCS elimination match between Team Liquid and Counter Logic Gaming, which saw the former winning after a reverse sweep. With this loss, CLG are eliminated from the LCS Championship, while TL keep their hopes alive for a possible spot at the 2022 League of Legends World Championship.
CLG reigned over the Rift in the first game of the series. Starting with first blood in a thrilling 2v1 in the top lane, CLG began taking over the top side of the map with deep vision and well-timed rotation from mid and bot lane. While TL focused their energies on taking on CLG during teamfights, their opponents split to gain lane advantage in the lower side of the map.
Once CLG took Baron Nashor uncontested, it was only a matter of time before they took Liquid’s nexus.
Liquid bounced back in the second, though it wasn’t enough to take the game — they succeeded in claiming first blood and gaining gold advantages in the top lane, however their bot lane, formed by the formidable Zeri-Yuumi combo, was being dominated by the opposing CLG duo.
While TL had more technical prowess during teamfights, CLG kept on widening their gold advantage by targeting neutral objectives, even smiting down the Baron uncontested at 25 minutes into the game. In one of the fights in front of the dragon’s pit, TL seems to be the one behind the wheel, but despite their Zeri electrocuting their opponents, it was CLG who eventually came out on top.
Then, after two losses, Liquid came to life. Their ability to change and adapt throughout a best of five saved them from dropping out of the LCS Championship.
During the third game, it was TL who gained the early game advantage, both in gold and kills thanks to Santorin’s map presence and consecutive ganks. The jungler’s movements across the Rift enabled his teammates and allowed them to take more risks that, ultimately, all paid off. Despite CLG’s proactive strategies and plays, it is TL who had the game in the palm of their hands throughout all the 29 minutes necessaries for them to take down the opponent’s nexus.
Game four cemented TL domination in the series. Once more, the team snatched advantages across the map thanks to a great jungle pathing from Santorin’s Trundle. First blood, first Herald, first enemy tower, Liquid snowballed the game in such an efficient way that they quickly boasted a 7k gold lead just 18 minutes into the game. CLG were powerless before the unstoppable force that was the whole TL team, especially Hans Sama’s Jinx.
With what is now the fastest game of the whole 2022 LCS Summer Split, TL closed the gap between them and CLG and brought the match to game five.
In the last showdown both teams went all-in with their draft picks, giving players like Bjergsen and Dhokla their signature champions. With everything to lose, both TL and CLG began the game slowly and steadily, without taking as many risks as they did in the previous games, thus avoiding early game ganks and jungle invasions.
But, similarly to the preceding game, TL eventually snowballed from the early minutes of the game and that lead only blossomed as Jinx got more and more excited at every kill.
After 26 minutes, and with the Baron in their hands, Liquid sieged CLG’s baseer. In one last attempt to defend their nexus and their hopes to stay alive in the competition, CLG charged TL, but the strength accumulated throughout the game put the latter in a position of absolute dominance, thus leading them to the much 안전토토사이트 coveted victory screen and the 3–2 reverse sweep.
Next week, Liquid will face the losing team of the match between 100 Thieves and Cloud 9, who are competing in the upper bracket finals.
Today’s elimination match was the fifth match to go to game five during this playoffs stage, and it’s already looking like clutching the last game of the series is the key factor to move forward during this 2022 Summer LCS Championship.
