The Cost of a Dream
"A Dream is a Wish your Heart Makes" - Cinderella
Death and Tragedy
Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream and shared with the world. He wanted prejudice and discrimination to be no longer a practice of society. Black and whites were to be untied, it was time to "lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children."
His dream, him speaking his wishes and hopes for America were heard, but even though one person did not agree of his views or of him, King Jr. was shot for pursuing his dream. His life was taken, but his legacy will forever last.
Double lives
The documentary, Inside Job, about America's highest firms and banks turning their back on a nation for their own personal greed. Having this double life from not only their families and friends, but their clients and government, was how these greedy business men paid for their dream of wealth.
Barbara Ehrenreich in her book "Nickel and Dimed", started a new beginning from scratch. Instead messing around illegally while being at the top of a business and simply being greedy, she traded "from being a consumer, thoughtlessly throwing money around" to a mindset of "trailer trash" has become, for me, a demographic category to aspire to." She would have to face a new reality and ways to live to fulfill her experiment.
