Dear parents and caregivers,

It is hard to believe that we have made it to the halfway point of Term Three. The first five weeks have been very busy, and I would like to thank our fabulous staff for all the extra things they do each and every day. My job would be so much harder without these amazing people.

Thank you to all our parents for making their children look so neat and tidy for school photos on Monday and Tuesday. The staff from 3P Photography commented on the wonderful behaviour of our students and that it was a pleasure to be given the responsibility of photo day! Well done to everyone!

On Wednesday, a very excited Year Three group headed off on their excursion to Optus Stadium. Exploring the West Coast Eagles and Dockers changerooms, sitting in the coaches boxes and being behind the set of the news report room were some of the many highlights of their day. Exploring the Noongar Seasons playground and participating in an art lesson finished off a great excursion. A very big thank you to Mrs Golding for organising this wonderful experience for her students and to Mr Fitzgibbons, Mrs Kovacevich, Mrs Chan-Saw and the parent helpers that assisted on the day.

Monday, August 21 is our Catholic Day. This day is given to all staff members who work in a Catholic School, as a recognition of all the extra-curricular activities they do throughout the year for our students. The school will be closed on this day as staff enjoy a well-deserved break.

Book Week is one of my favourite weeks in the year and I am very excited that it begins next week. A reminder that the Book Week Dress-Up Parade will be on next Thursday at 8:45am. I cannot wait to see the imagination on display as students come to school dressed in their favourite book character.

This weekend some of our Year 4 students will be making their First Holy Communion. I ask that you keep these students in your thoughts and prayers.

Wishing everyone a lovely extra-long weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.

God bless

Rebecca Clarke

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated each year on 15 August. This date commemorates the death of Mary and her bodily assumption into Heaven. Because it signifies the Blessed Virgin’s passing into eternal life, it is the most important of all Marian feasts and a Holy Day of Obligation.

The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is also known as The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Assumption of Mary into Heaven.

Almighty and everlasting God,

You have taken up body and soul

into the heavenly glory the Immaculate Virgin Mary,

Mother of Your Son: Grant, we beseech You,

that, ever intent upon heavenly things,

we may be worthy to be partakers of her glory.

Through Jesus Christ Your Son, our Lord,

who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,

One God, forever and ever.

Amen.
