The Mountain Library

September 2014

Hello! I'm Tricia LaRue, the librarian at Mountain Range. Before joining The Mountain, I taught Digital Media at STEM Launch, and I was a Teacher Librarian in Adams 12 Five Star Schools for the 8 years before that. I also taught 4 years at an elementary school in Carrollton, GA. This is my 11th year with Adams 12 and my 16th year teaching. This is also my 5th year as a DTEA building rep in Adams 12. I am so excited to begin another year back in the library at Mountain Range! (With all the changes in libraries over the previous years, I can say I'm extra happy to be at the same place in the same position!) I know there will never be a dull moment, and I can't wait to see where this next year takes us!

Hello! My name is Tracy Brown, and I am the Media Technician (new job title!) at Mountain Range High School. I have worked in the Adams 12 Five Star School District for 8 1/2 years. Last year, I moved positions to the library at Mountain Range High School. I previously worked in the records department. I am so excited for this new year and to see what it will bring!!

Teens' Top Ten

The Teens' Top Ten is a "teen choice" list, where you, the teen, nominate and choose your favorite books of the previous year! Exciting, right?! You can participate as long as you are between the ages twelve to eighteen. Check out the nominees below.

2014 Teens' Top Ten Nominees
Voting will be online from August 15 - October 19. The winners will be announced during the week of October 21st-the week after Teen Read Week! So, if you want to participate in this exciting event, get reading and vote! See Mrs. LaRue with any questions, and stop by the library to check out a book!

We have eBooks!

Many Adams 12 schools are getting together to offer more eBooks for all of our students! Check out Follett Shelf to see what's available. We have close to 140 available now, and many of these are popular, often checked out titles! Most are single user books, while others are unlimited use (look for the infinity symbol for those). Check out the tutorial page below on the library website to see how to check out these books. Or, here's a set of step by step instructions you can print or read online. Keep in mind, our eBooks can be read on computers, Apple devices, or Android devices only. This is not the Overdrive program that allows you to download books to Nooks or Kindles. We also have 63 titles through Mackin Via, and instructions are also on the tutorial page below.

Anythink also has eBooks!

Anythink also has eBooks through Tumblebooks and Tumblebook Cloud (which includes Orca Publishing books...great high interest/low level books for secondary). The library allows free use, and you can link to them on your own websites, too. You just can't link directly to the TumbleBooks pages, but you can link to Anythink's page. Scroll down on their Articles, Research, & More page to get there.
