Timothy Ball News November 18-22
Welcoming all. Believing in all. Growth for all.
A Note from Mr. Ciochina
With the weather turning colder and the sun setting earlier, it is difficult to find the opportunity to play outdoors in the evenings. I encourage you to continue or start a tradition to set aside time each night for some reading fun as a family. Reading, listening to reading, and other literacy activities are a fantastic way to help your child's love of learning grow and help build his or her skills. Being a dad with three young children and a busy family schedule, I know it is tough to find the time to carve out for reading each night. But, some of our most meaningful family time together involves books. Grab some hot chocolate, an interesting book, and help foster a love of reading and learning for your child.
I want to congratulate our second graders who did a fantastic job with the music program this week -- it was a joy to watch!
On Monday evening, Timothy Ball will host our Crown Point area Spell Bowl Competition at Colonel John Wheeler Middle School -- best of luck to our hardworking team!
Please consider nominating one of our outstanding teachers... Students, parents, and fellow colleagues can access The Times Teacher Appreciation Form at www.nwitimes.com/forms/teachers_appreciation/ and nominate a teacher who excels in the classroom. Nominators are kept confidential.
Thank you for being a fantastic partner in education. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Fruit or Veggie of the Month: Sweet Potato
Social-Emotional News from Mrs. Holok
November is a special time of year when many of us celebrate Thanksgiving. It is the perfect time of year to talk about and teach gratitude. It is also important to share our gratitude with others. As we approach Thanksgiving, think about how you can have conversations with your child about what gratitude is and how to express it. Throughout the month, I will share some simple ways to instill thankfulness in children. Here are a few to start:
- Each day ask your child to come up with one positive thing that happened during the school day.
- Thank your children often, even if they are doing required chores or activities. Let them know you appreciate their effort.
- Say “thank you” to your spouse, your friends, and your family in the presence of your children.
“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it”. Willam Aurthor Ward

Stomp Out Bullying Tip
Tattling vs Reporting: There is a big difference. Tattling is when you are trying to get someone in trouble. Reporting is when you are trying to get bullying to stop.
