Middle School- Week of April 14
Middle School News
Hello Students and Families,
Quarantine in the Middle School
It has been a long week here in the Middle School Office. There were several students who tested positive for COVID. They came to school (April 8/9) before they had symptoms. Right now, I believe that if the students who are in quarantine isolate until April 23, we can end this outbreak and be back on our feet for the rest of the year.
All of 7th grade will all be distance learning until April 26th. There are a handful of students in 6th and 8th grade in quarantine/ distance learning because of close contact with someone who tested positive.
The distance learning schedule has not changed at all. Scroll down to see that schedule, there is a printable version as well. The teachers reported that on Monday and Tuesday, the students at home did a great job of logging into google meets and participating. Please remind your students who are learning at home, they will spend their afternoons in schoology working on classwork. No one has the afternoon off.
Family Advisory Group
The Family Advisory Group meet on April 7th. We doubled the number of attendees from our March meeting and had a great conversation about our school Reading Goal, Communication, and Trust. One take away will be me making a video to go with some of these Wednesday newsletters, which I hope to start next week.
Our next meeting will be a google meet at 7 pm on Wednesday, May 19th. we will discuss our Social and Emotional School goal. I will send the google meet link when we get closer to that date.
When in Doubt, Do Distance Learning
Students will not be 6 feet from each other. If you think your child is ill, or may have been exposed to someone who is ill, please keep them home and have them log on to google meets. They will not be marked absent. Please call or email us to let us know they will be doing distance learning for the day. In order for us to keep our school open, we need to be over careful- when in doubt, do Distance Learning.
Please communicate any attendance issues.

Distance Learners/ At Home Schedule
Distance Learners (and students who are quarantined at home)
You will continue to do 3 google meets each day (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday). The google meets start at 8:00, 9:00, and 10:00. If you log in and the teacher has not yet opened the meeting, please wait a few minutes. The teacher may need to start exactly on time, or just a minute or two late because they are getting the students in the classroom settled in.
You will need to go into schoology in the afternoons. Go to each class and complete the work that is there. You do not have the afternoons off. You have asynchronous lessons. NO ONE has afternoons off. Families, if you find your student doesn't have work in the afternoons, please contact me right away. This is a mistake that needs to be fixed.
Remember that on Tuesdays and Friday, we go backwards, and we start in period 6.
