Five LHS freshmen were recently chosen as the new LHS PUPP (Princeton University Preparatory Program) cohorts for 2016. Congratulations are in order for Bonyae Bridges, Malashia Carter, Krystian Hajduczka, Miraj Patel, and Valandra Riggins for this admirable accomplishment! PUPP is a unique and exclusive program, which motivates talented students and prepares them for the opportunities and challenges of college through rigorous academic and cultural enrichment. The program accepts only 24 students each year and encourages students to take risks, broaden their areas of expertise, and display high self-esteem, respect for diversity, and strong communication skills.
Super Girls
The Girls Track and Field team defeated Robbinsville to win the Patriot division of the CVC Conference! The girls finished their season with a record of 7-1 with several championship meets still left. The members of the team have been wonderful representatives of Lawrence High School this year, winning with class and poise.
Special recognition has been extended to seniors Dominique Peters and Njeri Robinson, who have led the team all year as two of the best track and field athletes in Mercer County. Both will be competing in track and field at the collegiate level next year!
Track Champs
The Girls Track and Field team also won the Central Jersey Group 3 Sectional Championship this past weekend! This is the first Sectional Championship for the team since 1979!
It was an amazing team performance! Njeri Robinson placed third in the shot put, Mikayla Aime placed 2nd in the long jump, and Dominique Peters was second in high jump and third in the 400-meters. Kelsey Holt, Sataya Gordon, Mijah Collier and Dominique Peters set another school record in the 4x100 meter relay. Sophia Centeno, Sataya Gordon, Kelsey Holt, and Dominique Peters won the 4x400 relay, and Mijah Collier left with FOUR gold medals (100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, two winning relays).
Congratulations to all of the girls, as well as Mr. Collins and the rest of their coaches, and best of luck to all of those who qualified for States!
Golf Honors
Freshman golfer Sam Koevenig was recently named Honorable Mention by the CVC Golf Coaches Association for his play this past spring.
Congratulations, Sam!

Seniors will then participate in a DUI prevention program presented by the LTPD, LTFD, and other first responders. Student actors will enact a scenario complete with a mock crash scene with damaged cars from which they must be rescued. Guest speakers such as a police officer, trauma doctor, and judge will walk seniors through the unintended and deadly consequences of a choice to drive while intoxicated.
Volunteers are needed for this event! If you are able to help set up (June 2nd at 8:30 p.m.) or serve/clean up (June 3rd at 7:30 a.m.), please contact Shelley at cshell76@aol.com.
