No other hazards come anywhere close to killing as much teenagers as car accidents does. 89% of teens say their parents are their influence on their driving. On average 5,000 to 6,000 teens are killed a year by car accidents. On average, someone in the U.S dies in a car accident every 40 minutes. Drivers under age 24 account to 30% of total costs in car accidents in the U.S.
Seatbelt usage
Teen drivers killed in car accidents after drinking and driving, 74% did not wear a seatbelt. According to surveys, 10% of all teens don't wear seatbelts.
Drunk driving
One in ten teens said they have driven after drinking alcohol. In 2011, 15% of all drivers involved in crashes were alcohol impaired.
Aggresive driving
Teenage drivers are more likely to speed and tailgate. No other hazard comes anywhere close to killing as much teenagers as car crashes does. Men often drive more aggressively and speed up unnecessarily.

In 2011, 9,878 people were killed in alcohol impaired accidents. 39 percent of fatal crashes involved in crashes, were alcohol impaired. Teenagers are about 10% of the world's population but are 12% of all car crashes. Over 400,000 teens ages 16-20 will be seriously injured. For every mile driven teens 16-19 are four more times likely to crash. About 23% of drivers ages 15-20 who died in car crashes had a BAC of 0.08 or higher.
Media Influences
According to studies if your under the influence you feel the need to drive home and that increases the car accident rate. When your driving under the influence of marijuana your car accidents double. Human error accounts for 90% of car accidents.
Short term effects and long term effects
Some short term effects of car accidents would be having some minor bruises or getting a concussion. Some long term effects would be like what happened with my brother and he had surgery on his hip and has screws in that he will need for 3 years and he can only apply 50 pounds of pressure onto his hip, and in the future he will need a hip replacement.
How to Approach Someone about it
First off you should probably sound concerned first, go up and adress them. Ask them if they feel they are making good decisions by drunk driving, or if they think driving while texting or on the phone is the best decision. Than since they already are making those bad decisions they will probably mouth off, thats when you calm down the situation and just tell them the bad things that driving drunk or speeding can do to you.
Positive and Negatives Effects
Some positive effects would be showing off to your friends, having a fun time. There are plenty of negative effects, if you get into a car accidents with some friends you could be at risk for your friends possibly dying and you surviving than realizing that you killed your friends with your decisions. You could have an injury that leaves you permanently damaged, like paralyzed etc... There's many more bad effects from getting in car crashes, so BE CAREFUL
Advances
Some advances they have made to try and prevent injuries from car accidents, is they make reinforced frames, bumpers, they also make censors that sense when a car is near by.
