3rd Grade

November 19th

A Peek at Our Week

Reading: We will read chapters 13-16 this week and we will have a vocabulary test/Comprehension Test on Friday.

The students were ALL given a print out of the vocabulary words from quizlet. They are encouraged to record the page number they find each word and to write the sentence they find it in. They are able to use this on the test. It is VERY helpful if COMPLETED and it is up to the students to complete it.

MONOCHROMATIC ANIMAL PROJECT!! This is due TOMORROW NOVEMBER 20TH. We will spend 45 minutes in the computer lab tomorrow for them to put the finishing touches on their PowerPoint.

After tomorrow's session in the lab the students will have had a total of 3 1/2 hours to work on this project IN CLASS! Most students have finished it and are helping others.

I will collect flash drives tomorrow to begin grading the presentations. We will also be watching them in class.

Since I will not have all of the projects graded by 1:45 tomorrow afternoon please note that their interim report will not have a science grade but as soon as the presentations are graded you can see the score in HAC.

Math:

We are continuing to work with polygons! This can be tricky so please take time to review homework each night. We are also reviewing it in class.

Science:

We are continuing to learn about the sun, planets and space. We will have a quiz when the students are prepared. I will make sure they all have enough time to study.

Upcoming Projects!

Science: We will be creating a model of the sun. We will need lots of shredded newspaper and a few bottles (5) of liquid starch. We need 18 medium sized paper or styrofoam bowls.

Thanksgiving Craft: Each students needs to bring in one or more pine-cones (any size, but medium is best)

If you have lots please send in more than one in case some students don't have one.
