Westley's Coaching Review
Trimester 1
Purpose
It is hard to believe the first trimester is already coming to an end. It has been another busy start to the year and although we are remaining busy it is nice to finally have things falling into place. The purpose of this coaching review is to keep instructional strategists, other building coaches, AEA representatives and administrators up to date on what has been happening with each of the buildings I serve.
Presuming Competence & Building Inclusive Practices
Poyner & Irving
Poyner and Irving participated in a professional learning on strategies for presuming competence. This professional learning included administrators, instructional strategists, building coaches, general education teachers, specialists and paraprofessionals. At Irving we took some additional time to look at LRE data for the district as well as their school. We also discussed the importance of providing ALL students access to core instruction.
Shout Outs!
Erin Rosburg DonorsChoose
Erin has received $4000 worth of materials from donorschoose.org - she is an expert at writing grants as evidenced by the multitude of resources she has received. Erin would be more than happy to share her knowledge with anyone who asks!
Sarah Bishop Assistive Technology
Sarah has done a wonderful job of seeking out innovative ways to include technology with her students. Her latest endeavor was exploring the use of an Echo Smartpen by Livescribe with one of her students. If you have questions about how to use assistive technology Sarah is a great resource!
Sam Evans & Lacey Neundorf Exit Slips
Sam and Lacey share a teaching space at Irving and both utilize exit slips at then conclusion of their lessons as formative assessment to guide their instruction. This is a great strategy to be used with all ages - you can ask students to write a sentence, draw picture or even write a word to sum up their learning from the day. Ask Sam or Lacey for other ways to use this strategy!
