In 1970, Intel created a memory chip that contained 1,000+ bits of information for computers. Basically the chip can store a lot of things you have on your computer. The chip is known as RAM random-access memory. RAM is a type of memory that can be accessed randomly, every byte is accessed without touching bytes before.

U.S Department of Defense creates an ada that is used for designing missile guidance systems. Ada is named after Augusta Ada Byron, Ada was originally named DoD-1. Ada is also high-level programming language.

1971

In 1971, Ray Tomlinson sent the first e-mail through a network that can send that e-mail to other people. E-mails (Electronic Mail) can send pictures, files, attachments, and text to other people for them to see.

The first arcade game was made by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney. The game is called Computer Space. It's a single-player game that has 4 buttons: 2 for Rotation (left,right) and 2 buttons (Fire Missile+Thrust). Object of the game is to destroy the saucers more times than they destroy your ship, they also have to outscore the saucers to get extended play in hyperspace. The game ends when the saucers outscore you and the time has expired.

1972

In 1972, Magnavox Odyssey was the first video game console demonstrated on May 24. It was later released by Magnavox and sold for $100. The game is basically 2 white blocks on either side of a white line with a smaller block in the middle that has to be hit by both blocks. The object of the game is to not get that small block passed the big blocks.

1973

In 1973, John Vincent Atanasoff was awarded for inventing the first electronic digital computer on October 19th. The computer was named Atanasoff-Berry computer. Clifford Berry helped Atanasoff build the computer.

1974

In 1974, John Draper used breakfast cereal,that created a 2,600 hertz tone, and a blue box to get into AT&T's phone network and make free calls anywhere around the world. The "blue box" is NOT a ordinary box, it's an electronic tone generating device (also made by John Draper) that allows people to enter numbers on a touch pad manipulating the phone network and making free calls.

1975

In 1975, Bill Gates and Paul Allen establish Microsoft on April 4th. Bill Gates and Paul Allen are the co-founders of Microsoft. Microsoft is a company that can create from online tools to end-user applications.

The first portable computer is called IBM 5100. It was released in September and it weighed 55 pounds. It also has a 5 inch CRT display. CRT means Cathode Ray Tube, it is used to show images on a fluorescent screen (computer screen). It also has 1.9MHz (Mega Hertz) PALM processor with 64KB (Kilo Bytes) of RAM.
