Comer Elementary's STAR News
November 14 - November 18, 2022
We are also grateful for the many ways that our Comet families engage with and support our school and community. As we enter the holiday season, our school works to support community organizations that give back to our community, such as the Madison County Food Bank and their Christmas assistance program. We are also grateful for the many community organizations that support our Comets--from our Partners in Education to our local businesses. The Comer community is such a caring community, and we are proud to be able to teach and work with the next generation of the citizens of Comer!
Annual Thanksgiving Lunch
November 17th
Due to a turkey shortage this year, we will not be able to serve turkey. However, like the pilgrims, we will be thankful for what we have! The menu includes ham and roll or chicken filet and roll, with all of the traditional sides. We look forward to welcoming visitors for lunch on this day!
Please join us on December 12th!

7 Mindsets
We will continue our third Mindset this week, We are Connected. The 4 themes for this Mindset are as follows: Embrace Everyone, Maximize Positive Relationships, Build Your Dream Team and Lead with Value. You can also use the following link to access the current parent newsletter - We are Connected Parent Newsletter. You will see links you can follow under Activities to Do with Your Child. If you have any questions about the 7 Mindsets Program, please contact Mrs. Hale, or Brad Sikes, our school counselor.
Food2Kids!
Each month Comer Elementary collects food items for our Madison County Food2Kids program! This food stays in Madison County and is given to children in need. For the month of November it will be granola bars. (not nutrigrain)

November Reminders
Here are some things you can do to help your child be ready to start each day!
- As the weather turns cooler, make sure your child has a jacket/hoodie and that it is labeled with his/her name.
- A good night's sleep helps your child be rested and ready to learn.
- Be here no later than 7:50 A.M.
- Make sure your child has their agenda with any notes about transportation changes.
- Chromebooks need to be fully charged.
- Whenever your child is absent, please send a note on a piece of paper or in their agenda. You may also send an email to our secretary, Donice Moss.
- Parents are encouraged to send nutritious foods for snack breaks. Soft drinks and candy are not allowed, per our student handbook. Water only in water bottles (other drinks cause sticky spills).
