Mountain Men
What's the big deal? By Lily Herreid
The Importance of Mountain Men
Mountain men in the states were very important. They would spend large amounts of time alone just trapping animals for their pelts. They would have to travel great miles to get these pelts and face great dangers. Jim Beckwourth and Jedediah Smith were some of the most popular traders. They were connected through large economic deals.
Men of the mountains
The effects they left
While these men were hunting, they did not think much of consequences. They killed off all or most of populations in their areas so they had to travel farther and farther to get what they needed. The trails they followed helped pioneers in the future. From the Native Americans, Jedediah Smith learned of a new path. This path was through the rockies, going south unlike Lewis and clark. This find helped bring more and more people out west.
