Family Fiction Fright Night
And Author visit from Chad Crews!
Check out all the amazing activities that went on in the library last month!
We hosted an author visit and had the first ever Family Fiction Fright Night!
Chad Crews performing "Nevermore"
Mr. Crews performed Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven" and "The Tell-Tale Heart" from memory!
Mr. Dill and Mr. Williams "share a memory"
Mr. Crews had the two teachers silently imagine seeing Poe finishing his latest work, and mysteriously they both ended up "seeing" the same story!
Chad Crews reads minds!
One of our students randomly chose a short story or poem by Edgar Allan Poe and just by "shouting" the title in her head, Mr. Crews was able to tell her which one she chose.
Awesome magic tricks
Mr. Crews did some really cool magic tricks with the rings, set to an original poem inspired by "The Raven."
"The Raven" inspired artwork
Mr. Morrill's 7th grade classes were "commissioned" by Mrs. Jenkins to create artwork inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's works that would decorate the school and book fair. Students listened to and analyzed poems and short stories in class as they worked. In a critique session, students explained their artistic choices and how their work reflected themes in Poe's works.
