8th Grade End-of-Year Activities

The eighth-grade promotion ceremony and the end-of-year activities are important events at Anacapa Middle School. These events are designed to honor all students, celebrate the year, and acknowledge there accomplishments. To fully participate in all the activities available to our 8th graders, students must meet minimum requirements. This resource outlines the minimum academic, behavior, and citizenship requirements needed to participate in these activities. Eighth graders who cannot meet these minimum requirements risk losing the privilege of participating in one or more of the activities listed below.

Activities and Requirements

8th-grade Promotion - June 10th, 1:15 pm

Requirements for Participation:

  • Achieve a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative 8th grade GPA*

  • No suspensions during the second semester (January 28th- June 10th)



*2.0 cumulative 8th grade GPA- This is calculated using Quarter 2 (summative grades for Quarter 1 and 2), and Quarter 4 (summative for Q3 and 4 GPA by event deadline).

8th-grade Beach Day - June 5th, 9:00 am

Requirements for Participation:

  • Achieve a 2.0 GPA or No failing grade as of May 29

  • No suspensions during the second semester (January 28th- June 8th)

  • No fines or obligations by May 29

  • No more than one U (Unsatisfactory Citizenship Grade) mark in the 4th quarter from two separate teachers

8th-grade Dance - June 8th, 5:00 to 8:00 pm

Requirements for Participation:

  • Students must achieve a 2.0 grade point average or receive a D or better in all classes including electives by May 29

  • No suspensions during the second semester (January 28th- June 8th)

  • No fines or obligations by May 29

  • No more than one U (Unsatisfactory Citizenship Grade) mark in the 4th quarter from two separate teachers

Anacapa Middle School

The Anacapa School community provides a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment where students are encouraged to reach their full potential. All students are challenged academically and feel a personal connection to the school. Students are taught to understand the importance of accepting others and to be responsible members of our culturally diverse society. Through example, the Anacapa staff teaches students the positive resolve of maintaining personal integrity.
