#BearcatPride!
Good afternoon, JSE families,
Even though we will not have our Annual JSE Veterans Day program on Veterans Day, our students and staff will still proudly honor our Veterans and active service men and woman during our Veterans Day Program presented virtually through our JSE News and several other activities in their classrooms. Students and staff will also cover our school with R.E.D for Remember Everyone Deployed, thank you for helping your child find a little red to wear on Wednesday.
We have joined the Holiday Cards for Our Military Challenge. More than 50 districts and individual schools, including JSE, have joined IDOE in this initiative sending holiday greeting cards to military deployed around the world. Thank you for organizing this Mrs. Asher! Secondly, we were awarded a Service Learning Grant to commemorate our Veterans! On Veterans Day we will honor our Veterans through the leadership of our student council students and sponsors. We will be sending Veterans appreciation letters to show our respect and gratitude for their service. An information letter was sent home last week with your child, we ask that you complete the form and send it back in with your child by Thursday of this week. See the information below.
COVID Precautions: Our students watched a special news broadcast today from our Nurse Mrs. Maniszko, reminding them of proper hand-washing, sanitizing, social distancing and mask wearing. We continue to reinforce these guidelines to do our part to stop the spread. Please know we continue to follow the procedures in place according to our UTSC Return to Learn plan. Thank you for your communication with us regarding your concerns, possible close-contacts, and positive cases within your home. We are doing our best to communicate with you as situations arise and are taking the utmost precautions to decrease the possibility of close contacts at school. Nurse Mrs. Maniszko is answering questions and addressing concerns, please feel free to contact her at anytime by calling our main office. In addition, she is in continuous communication with the health department. Please administer daily health screenings of your child and keep them home when they present with symptoms. See information below from our health department.
We are grateful for your partnership,
Mrs. Barnes

Attention Families of Virtual Students:
How do I arrange for my child's learning if they are quarantined and temporarily virtual? The nurse will work with you to determine your child's return day and then your child's teacher will work with you to develop a plan to continue their learning from home. This may include learning packets, virtual lessons, and activities on Canvas. Please email both the nurse and your child's teacher directly as well as call the main JSE office to report their absence. It is not necessary to report their absence each day after a return date is determined with our nurse. Please remember the return date may change based on symptoms or future exposure.
How can I sign up my child to read with Mrs. Barnes? Mrs. Barnes would like to read to, with, or listen to your child read through a google meet! Please email Mrs. Barnes directly to sign up for a time. lbarnes@union.k12.in.us
Free Breakfast/Lunch Curbside Pick-up at JSE: If you would like breakfast/lunch but were not able to sign up through the form, please let us know and we will add you to our pick-up list. Pick-up will now be at the car rider door on Mondays.

And this Fri"YAY" our kids and staff will enjoy POPcorn to end the week on a fun note!
