Sixth Grade Band Bulletin
Mid October
Busy Times
We are entering a very busy time of the year. This newsletter will go over information about our first concert, the ongoing fundraiser, the BHS Marching Band community performance, and upcoming assessments. HUGE thanks go out to all of the parents who volunteered for Rotolopalooza! It was a huge success with the most kids ever attending. The Music Buffs made a great profit from the night. If you donated food, drinks, and/or some of your time, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Masquarade Concert
Concert Information (this is all-new this year)
- Date: October 29th
- Time for Students to Report: 5:30 pm
- Concert Start Time: 6:15pm
- Concert Ends: 6:40 pm (approx)
- Uniform: Students can wear a costume as long as their face is not covered (so they can play). Students choosing not to wear a costume should wear their grey Music T-Shirt and jeans.
- Students will need from home: Instrument (if your student only brings mouthpiece...they will need to bring his/her instrument) Percussion bring stick bags. Music Binder and Folding Music Stand.
Can you help with set-up? We are setting up the gym for both concerts right after school. Please email me if you can help. It should only take about 30-40 minutes tops.
I am looking for a few parent volunteers who would be able to judge our costume contest during the warm-up. If you would be able to be there for that, I'll need 3 volunteers for this.
Lastly, because we are doing a second concert (7th and 8th-grade bands) later in the evening, we will need to clear out the parking lot ASAP after our concert to make room for all of their cars. We kindly ask that you depart RMS quickly after our concert to make room for the next concert's attendees.
Music Buffs Fundraiser
Important Dates:
Starts: October 15
Ends: November 8
Pick-up: November 22 (3:30-7:00 pm--RMS Cafeteria)
I have attached links to the google slide, the order form, and will be emailing the letter from the Buffs below.
Each year the Buffs give the RMS program many thousands of dollars that are used to purchase instruments, music, technology, and clinicians. They paid for our sixth-grade band to be part of a consortium that will allow us to be one of the first bands to perform a brand new piece this spring. In addition, they award scholarships to all students going to residential music camps.
