Weekly Message
Dear Raleigh Hills Community,
I wanted to put out this information early to let you know about some changes that will be coming up due to staff being furloughed on Fridays for the remainder of the year. I'm sorry I couldn't get this to you sooner, but we had to let the process of voting follow it's course. The changes will mainly affect our scheduled pick up of student belongings and the kindergarten packet pick up. Both of those things will be rescheduled for Tuesday, May 19th. Please see the articles below for more details. We apologize for the inconvenience of the short notice.
One of the things we keep hearing about is the difficulty of setting up education routines that work in the home. In this time of uncertainty and change, it's important to remember that children thrive on structure and routine. Each morning is an opportunity to set the stage for the day. Children (and adults!) thrive when they have some routine and structure built into the day. This is even more crucial during uncertain times, and for children/teens who have special needs. Even teenagers, who may say they don't like schedules, profit from having them.
Want to learn more about what questions to ask to set the stage and how to build in a routine that sticks? Read the article linked below. We hope your family is staying safe and healthy.
Warm regards,
Jennifer
Pick Up of Student Belongings
Due to the furlough, our final pick up of student belongings will be rescheduled for Tuesday, May 19th from 10-2. Please enter the lower lot and staff will direct you. Please be ready with your students' name and grade. This will be for any student who still needs to pick up belongings: last names N-Z as well as anyone who was not able to come last week.
Kindergarten Registration
If you prefer a paper packet, those can be picked up at the school outside the main office door on Tuesdays from 10-12. There will also be a bin there to turn in completed packets.

Donate to BSD Community Resources Fund
The Beaverton School District is now accepting donations from the greater Beaverton community to support community-wide efforts to provide food boxes, toiletries and other essential items to our families during this emergency situation. Food Banks are working hard to remain stocked to feed communities. There are many Beaverton families who struggle economically even in the best of times, and this fund will enable the Beaverton School District to work with community partners to serve our families. We use this fund to triple the buying power and thus increase the amount of families we can serve, a number that increases daily. Pass this on to friends and neighbors (we can also honor matching dollars!)
