Be Kind * Be Safe * Be a Learner

Dear Pittman Grown-Ups,

Happy November! This month we are focusing on "Be Kind"! All month long students will be reviewing the expectations for what "be kind" looks & sounds like in all areas of the building.

On Friday, November 11th we will have a short Veterans Day Assembly for any Veterans and their families. See the flyer below.

Additionally, we would like to create a display to honor Veterans for the upcoming holiday. If you have a military photo (or a copy of a photo) of a family member or close friend that you would be willing to send in, we promise to return it.

Please send it in by Wednesday next week, with the following information.
-Name of Person in photo
-Who are they in relation to a Pittman Student (ex: gradfather of ______)

Pittman Staff Shout-Outs!

This year one of our goals is to increase celebrations. We not only want to increase student celebrations, but staff celebrations too. Each month at our assembly, we want to provide some parent shout-outs to staff. If you have a shout-out to share, please fill in the form here.

PTA Update!

PTA Update

Thank you Pittman families for all your support for Trunk or Treat! We couldn’t have put on such a fun family event without your outpouring of support and donations. Thank you to each and every person who helped!

10 Days before Thanksgiving break

Hello Pittman Families,

November is such a wonderful month to teach our kiddos about being thankful. As a PTA, we would like to give families/kiddos an opportunity to show some thankfulness to our amazing school. We have provided blank turkeys for your child to decorate and write a note. They can make these turkeys for any of the teachers and staff at Pittman. Each day leading up to Thanksgiving break they can give a thankful turkey to the teacher/staff of their choice. Turkeys can start coming in, Monday November 7th.

May the thankfulness pour out and let’s show Pittman how thankful we are for them this holiday season.

Fifth-graders may apply for transitional transfer for the 2023-2024 school year beginning Nov. 2

SPS fifth-graders have the opportunity to request a transitional transfer for the 2023-2024 school year to a middle school of their choice that is open to transfers. Students interested in this option may submit requests between 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2, and 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9.

This type of transfer is offered as part of Springfield Public Schools’ open enrollment option. If your child plans to attend the middle school assigned to them based on the student’s home address, no action is needed.

If your child is on transfer to a current elementary school and you would like for them to attend the connected middle school you will need to submit a request to transitionally transfer to that middle school.

The transitional transfer request form for the 2023-2024 school year must be completed electronically. Requests are granted on a first come, first served basis determined by an electronic time/date stamp.

If your student is interested, visit www.sps.org/transfers to learn more.
